Hi LoOp

When I try to update my graph as you suggest, clicking on the graph line (the blue line, I assume which says Series "Std Drinks" Point "Date" Value x), both col. A and B outline in blue up to the date that is graphed. I can't drag the columns down together, it's either one or the other. Also when I drag either column down, the start date drags down as well graphing only 41 days of data. I guess otherwise the graph would stretch far past the screen. Can the graph be horizontally compressed--and how do I include everything from the start date to present? I'm very unfamiliar with using the graphing tools in Excel, as you can see.

Thanks,

Mike

Make sure you're clicking on the "corner" of the box, that way you can expand it. If you click on just the box it will only move it (hence, only getting 41 days). And, yes do the two boxes individually. The graph will automatically compress as you envelop more data with your boxes.

Hi LoOp,

Yes, I did exactly that, clicked bottom right corner, but mistakenly used the cross-hairs arrow instead of the diagonal dragging arrow. The latter did work! However, I have to do both columns B and A separately in order for the graph to update properly. In any case, the graph is a neat piece of work that I couldn't imagine producing on my own.

BTW, I don't get the nice orange and yellow colors when I select a column range, only a blue outline of the range. Also, where does the graph you show below the main one in your example come from? Mine doesn't display the second graph. Maybe this issues are due to my still using Office 2003?

And--yikes! My initial three-week series of data points starting 6/11 showed a comforting, gradually decreasing trendline. However, rhe entire three month series so far shows a disturbingly INCREASING trendline. I'm taking my naltrexone faithfully an hour before wine-time each evening, then following the advice not to think about it but let the drug do its work in the background. Maybe my problem is that I'm becoming too cavalier about letting this stuff work on autopilot--that I have to put some conscious effort into it as well.

Any suggestions? (Today marks the three-month point of starting TSM.)

Mike

The reds, oranges and yellows are a function called conditional formatting, the color is based on the number in the cell. They'll turn more green as my consumption goes lower. I think you don't see that because you're using Office 2003.

The second graph...I think I made it after PV put the spreadsheet up on tsmnet for us. It's a graph of the weekly totals. I could send PV a new one like I was going to do anyway, but then you'd have to put ALL your numbers in again. If you want to try to make it, it should be pretty easy. You just insert the chart/graph then select as the data series the weekly totals. You do that by holding Ctrl and selecting each individual weekly total.

As for the upward trend...you know better than that, don't worry about it. 8-)

Hey LoOp,

Re: graphing, you mentioned for the second graph of weekly totals, you mentioned: "The second graph...I think I made it after PV put the spreadsheet up on tsmnet for us. Sorry, but this way over my head. Where do I insert the chart/graph, select weekly totals (that col. I assume) and where do I Ctrl-copy the weekly totals to?

The graphing is a great tool, just wish I had more background in manipulating it. As for inserting all the numbers again, that should be easy with a Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v action on the range of cells involved--I think.

What happens after Dec. 31, 2009? Your input fields seem to stop there.

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Hmm...I'll send a new one to PV so he can put it up on tsmnet.
