With all due respect and appreciation to lena, I also feel like ~Q~ was unfairly attacked. Obviously AA related issues have some very personal components for a lot of people here, and I think it's important to keep that separate from our feelings about others here on this board.

As far as speaking for the forum goes, anyone who did not try to "sneak" into SR has no reason to be offended - no one can offend you without your permission. And you didn't do anything wrong. For that matter, neither does anyone who did try to "sneak" in have any reason to be offended. We have more important things to do here that be offended.

Losing ~Q~ would be an awful tragedy, as he has contributed so much to this community for so long. Why don't we reconsider the way we treat each other. We have enough to contend with without fighting amongst our selves. ~Q~ please reconsider your decision regarding this community, you are a valued and respected member - and we like you :)

~Q,

Take a break. Sometimes it helps to step away for awhile and come back - I've been there. I think Lena was out of line in this instance, I guess your post struck a chord with her but it could have been handled differently and hopefully will be going forward.

We are a little unseen family here, each with our quirks. I get overly emotional 2 weeks of every month and take things the wrong way or am overly optimistic...Lena seems to get a little controlling at times and her posts come across as angry. To balance that, however, she is also unwavering in her mission and incredibly smart & helpful and above all kind. Nick loves, loves, loves to prove a point and is quite entertaining and passionate about helping everyone. Houtx is a hoot and says whatever is on her mind and probably on half the minds of this board who are too timid to say it. WTE & Kris are really the angels of this board -- they help out everyone in need. Firebird is the prolific rocker who makes us laugh. Bob is the witty man everyone loves. Elf & Virgil are the gentlemen who tirelessly post and make us think. You are very scientific, confident and passionate about what you believe in and your posts make people sit up and take notice. I always check a Q post if I see it. I could go on and on...all of these attributes are good. But mixed together on this board, it's going to make for some rough waters sometimes and buttons are going to be pushed. FWIW, I think all the posting on the other site was...eh...not one of the shining moments on this board. I was a little dismayed to see it going on...and I'm glad you put a stop to it because it really did give the wrong impression of TSM...even for those just reading about it here.

Anyway, ~Q, I hope you come back. You are helping others by being here. Look back through your PMs - how many lurkers have contacted you for information? People bond with those they identify with - it's easier for them to start if they are at the same drinking levels as you were and have the same MO..then they start thinking, maybe just maybe they too can be cured. Beyond that, your input smooths out the rough edges of many of the discussions on this board - your voice fills a hole here...it would be greatly missed.

Please don't give up on us.

Oh, I'd hoped this topic would have died a death by now, oh well...

I think Lena's posts can come across as very strict when they need to, but I have always found them fair and helpful to the board.

I was grateful when she made her post on here. I couldn't find a good way to put my point across as the 'junior' member that I feel here when I wrote myself, but that was exactly how this thread had struck me. Q had done stirling work taking the message to that board. He was then banned, and talked about re-registering from a different IP. I went to bed, woke up, logged back in here and there was a thread 'STOP SNEAKING ONTO SOBERRECOVERY' (more or less) which sounded like an order (and a shouted one) to the whole board...from Q who then says he's been 'negotiating' or something on behalf of all the members here, and that he'll remind us how to behave!! I was pretty surprised by all this.

Now, it seems that there's even more to the story. Q was in touch by PM and email with people from here who he says were indeed 'using covert means to access the SR site'. He's published all his 'private' messaging with the moderators from SR here, and created a thread telling us ALL how to behave and what not to do when he was already in touch privately with the few people who were actually doing it (so he could have written direct)...but yet now he wishes Lena had addressed this issue 'privately' to him???

Lol, forgive me, my head can't keep up with all this :?

I wish this would all blow over. Q I know you've made a tremendous contribution to this site and I admire your zeal to spread the word, I really hope you'll stay. Lena I thank you for your strength to do what you think is right for the site and, by extension, all of us.

I need a beer.

And have an AF moment for me too please...I dream of being right there with you, one day soon though :)

Hehe, guess it was lucky for everyone I didn't choose Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini as my username here. And I didn't consider it. Even for a minute. Honest

I have edited all my responses on this site that were overly critical of soberrecovery.com. Despite some hateful well-indoctrinated users there, there were some who were truly interested. And they visit here and read our comments. Many of my posts here on this site had that self-righteous "greater-than-thou" arrogance that turns people right off. Of course many posters are that way there, but it was no reason to lower myself to that behavior. Therefore I removed the content of the arrogant posts. Just because I had success with Naltrexone doesn't mean I can force others to try it. They must choose for themselves. And if they don't like TSM, they can try something else.

I'll approach it in the future as "try it, it can't hurt to try. It costs nothing except the cost of a doctor's visit and the medication. There are no costly retreats or rehabs, no endless meetings, and no organization profiting from your addiction/misery by using this method. We volunteer our experiences because personally we want to, we don't have to".

Bob

Bob, it's like you read my mind - well done! Ruffling feathers only does harm, to us personally as well as TSM. If we sound like raging fanatics, how are we helping anyone? If those who disagree with TSM become angry and defensive, so be it, but I would hope we could do better than that.

Q, Lena, and everyone here: WE ALL NEED (and LOVE) EACH OTHER - let's put this behind us and move on!
