~Q~ - Your patience there is impressive. I keep wanting to join and comment, but I don't dare right now (edit: mean thoughts removed by Firebird).

I agree Q, great work. I read the responses over there and my blood pressure boiled at the judgment and sheer ignorance. "If there was a pill that made me normal I wouldn't take it." Whatever! If you forced me at gun point to listen to the AA jargon I might do it, but I'd have to repress my own vomit. I'm like FB - I don't have the patience to educate those poor souls over there. And by the way, I love the way your "deluded" mind operates. Great job.

I think we're the lucky ones, so we can afford I hope to be humble, and try to be as understanding as possible.

Q's done a really great job with that so far :)

This thread will also be read by many folk (hopefully!) from that site, so I hope we can try to be as constructive as possible here. It's not 'us versus them' in any sense, it's 'all of us versus alcoholism'.

You're right 8, I'll ratchet down my sarcasm. We are the lucky ones. I just have very little patience for AA rhetoric and when it stands in the way of the true cure, I get very angry. But you are right, it's better to come from a place of understanding and not harsh criticism.

That being said, the problem that we will all have to deal with is that this will very much be a battle between two competing camps: AA and TSM. AA preaches spiritual healing through the steps plus abstinence. The vast majority of AA folks will not only not condone TSM, but will rail against it. And that's a problem because that mentality will discourage thousands (millions?) from being cured by TSM. And that is a shame that so many lives will be wasted and lost due to pure ignorance of medical facts. That being said, approaching the AA mentality from a place of hostility will be counter-productive. Q's approach is the best one.

Fantastic Q , you've got your work cut out now !
I just don't get the almost wear a hair shirt attitude as if there isn't quite enough
suffering and challenges in life anyway that some would willfully add to it all
by wishing to do battle with craving . Is it some sort of valiant triumph of superior character that's at stake , a sort of nineteenth century epic drama ?
Why bother ! ? . Take the pill as we do for any other ailment . End of story .......- if you want it .

So I hear we all are delusional. Good thing we have each other to reinforce our delusions.

Q, you are a true missionary saint.

I just noticed we have an unusually high number of guests on the board right now. If we are being "checked up on", I hope they learn something in the process.

I'm glad to see Eddie make an apperance. :)

I just don't understand why so many people are so negative on TSM.... :( I wish these people would come over and look at all of the success stories we have over here.

Many of the threads have people reporting such struggle and hurt. One who would come to this community would largely see people finally finding hope.
