Dr. Eskapa, I have run into a situation which I had not anticipated. I started the Sinclair program with high hopes. I am not an everyday drinker.

However, I am finding that when I take Naltrexone it seems that when it is leaving my system the next day it has the effect of providing a really obnoxious metallic taste in the back of my mouth which persists for days. I have tried to continue with this, but it's tough. I can't taste or enjoy anything else for at least 48 hours after I have taken Naltrexone.

I have to confess that I was invited to a dinner with a friend where I knew wine would be freely available and I didn't take the Nal, because I couldn't stand the idea of having that taste in my mouth for the next few days.

Does this ever go away? Is there something I can do or take to help it go away? I can take the other side effects of Nal, such as the extreme tiredness or the spaciness but walking around with a mouthful of metal for a few days afterwards is really tough.

Have you had experience with this side effect?
