Hello - I'm 45, female, married, drinking more than I'd like (much of it secretly) but not willing to quit. Came across someone's post about SM on reddit.com a couple weeks ago, and realized it was what I had always been looking for. Read a bunch of posts here, ordered some naltrexone from River a few days later, read the Eskapa book last week and took my first pill yesterday. I am doing this independently - no one else knows about it.

I also got my first pair of progressive bifocal eyeglasses yesterday, so I'm having a little trouble deciding whether it's the nal or the specs that made me feel so woozy. :-) I took 1/2 a tablet before I left for a meeting last night, and was feeling totally sleepy when I got home a couple hours later. I forced myself to drink half a beer before going to bed at 9pm. I'm starting to feel kinda crappy right now, so I think I will go home and take a nap and see if I don't feel a little better afterwards.

Hi TW
I'm new too,(48 year old) isn't it going to be great in a few months from now to look back and see how far we have come.
I too secretly do drink, hiding from my teenagers. Luckily my BF knows that I' doing tsm and supports me, but the kids do know. I hope you start feeling better some I am lucky and don't have any side effects ( maybe a little spacey) You may want to try eating something first, I bought saltines and have them in my desk at work just in case, saltines helped when I had morning sickness. Good luck, we are on your way!!!

Welcome Treading --

If you read the posts you know the drill: the side effects, while highly annoying, do go away almost immediately -- typically after three or four doses of nal. Stick with 25 mg the first few times to cut down on the tiredness factor. You will also probably experience an immediate decreased interest in alcohol while the side effects are present. When the side effects go away, so will your decreased interest in booze. You may also experience a spike in your drinking after starting TSM, which is also typical and will also subside.

I'm 45 too but that's where our similarities end: I don't hide my habit -- everyone knows I'm a lush. ;)

Welcome and my best to you.

Nick

PS

Cant Spell makes a great point: the side effects can be mitigated by taking the nal on a full stomach.

Welcome all, am new too. Treading, progressives take a while to get used to so hang in there you'll love em. I think Nal takes awhile to get used to as well. One thing that I'm noticing consistently is that the tiredness and general bad feeling (the day after) seems to be more pronounced after less consumption and also I need less to get the same effect.

Welcome Treading
As others have said side effects tend to wear off after at most a couple of weeks and houtx makes a good point that it does indicate the drug is effecting your system and thus should hopefully do its job.
