Dear Dr Eskapa,

What was the average age of the Finnish Trial participants whose progress on TSM is depicted in Figure 3 of The Cure for Alcoholism? I'm concerned that Figure 3 may not be representative of someone on TSM that is a heavy drinker and has been drinking at elevated levels for many years. Take me, for example; I have seen no significant changes after 21 weeks of following TSM. Is this the result of my taking a benzo or are there other, perhaps more important, factors e.g. drinking history?

Thank you.

V.

Just a clarification that I think was intended by V: the more important variable than AGE is the average LENGTH OF TIME the subjects had been addicted to alcohol before starting TSM. Is there any validity to the theory that the longer the subjects had been drinking as alcoholics Pre-TSM, the stronger their conditioned response, and consequently, the longer it took for extinction to occur?

(Not trying to step on your toes V -- but I don't think you really meant age, but rather, the length of time the person had been drinking as an alcoholic. This would seem to be the more critical variable than age.)
