We cross posted and the above-response was written before your relapse. There is every reason to continue participation on this board before the naltrexone arrives. If you continue to drink, you can establish how much you are drinking. You can read what you can expect when the nal arrives, including side effects and how much different it is drinking with naltrexone -- more control and clarity.

Stick around, your input is valued and there is much to gain from staying involved here, IMO. Again, my best to you.

Nick

Thanks so much Nick, I really appreciate your kind words of support.

I will continue to post, and perhaps now I should record that I had 17 UK units last night, and probably about to finish and go to bed after 13 today.

The hangover today was absolutely horrendous, and is why I drank again. Deep sigh - my usual pattern.

At the end of every day - at the end of many tasks, my mantra is:

"It will be ok. It's all good."

It's what gets me through. Hang in there -

Thanks houtx, I do something similar a lot, but I'll redouble my efforts I think.

Feeling very low today. A bit hungover and tired again - it really is amazing to me that this evil stuff is legal when so many other things aren't - but the worst was the anxiety, absolutely unbearable at times.

I had to see a doc for my next sicknote and valium prescription today, and lied that I hadn't had a lapse. I was scared he wouldn't have given me the prescription if he knew I'd been drinking. My valium use is very very small most of the time and had been becoming less and less still to virtually nothing, but when the anxiety/panic attacks kick in it's either that or booze to take the edge off.

I can't get any response from the private doctor regarding a possible consultation but am trying again. And my (seperate) Nal order's still weeks away from arriving.

I feel utterly lost right now, but tomorrow will be a new day I'm sure.

On my first beer of the day, I reckon tonight will be 9 to 10 UK units. Gonna try for AF tomorrow.

I had 9.3 UK units on Monday, followed by two AF days.

My NAL arrived in the post today, and I'll probably be taking my first dose today and having a few beers, even though I hope to soon consult a doctor on TSM.

Thank you WTE :D I'm really delighted to have received my Nal much earlier than expected. And as today is a special day anyway for me, it's hard not to see it as perhaps a lucky portent. I certainly feel lucky to have found TSM and the forum here.

I took my first 25mg fifteen minutes ago, gonna go out and get some beers for tonight in a minute. I suppose I need something in my wallet to say what I've taken, just in case...

Hi 8,

Is it your birthday, perhaps? If so, many happy returns! If not, then hold onto that thought until it is your birthday. Seriously, whatever is special about it, enjoy!

V.

Thank you, V, it's been a lovely day :D

Funnily enough, I'd long been thinking 'what if the Nal turned up today of all days?' (even though it wasn't due for ages) and...it did!

I might have had one or two not-too-strong drinks anyway over lunch (I rather fancied a couple of 'shandy lagers' in the sun, ha), but would have left it at that. As it is I skipped those but have had Nal at the back of my mind all day, and just had to take the plunge tonight...brave new beginnings, long dreamed of...

The side effects from my first 25mg are much stronger than I'd expected. 45 minutes after taking it I was driving to the shop to buy some lagers, and it hit me pretty hard. I felt very floaty and dissociative, and slightly confused - not unpleasantly so, on the whole, but at times bordering on discomfort.

These feelings have only increased in the last three hours, and amplified no doubt by the four beers I've drunk. I didn't expect it to be as 'heady' as this, it really has been quite intense, and slightly psychadelic at times.

Physically I've had bouts of nausea which have passed quickly, and also deep bodily relaxation. I knew I'd been tired all week, but adrenalin had kept me going. The Nal, though, has cut through all that and my body seems to really, deeply, feel the weariness that had been there all along. I like that. I feel like I'm going to sleep for a long time tonight for once, and I hope so. I'm also not looking forward to the hangover; I have a feeling it's going to be strange.

Great that you got the nal!

Yes, the side effects are more than you'd expect BUT PASS almost immediately -- three doses or so, typically. Your side effects will be minimized if you TAKE THE NAL ON A FULL STOMACH. This helped me with nausea and the other weird feelings you describe. Sleep disturbance comes next for a lot of us. Wild dreams and disrupted sleep are probably coming your way but again, it's just your body getting used to a freaky invader. Sleep disruption usually passes on relatively short order also.

Welcome to the club! And check out THE CURED list -- it keeps growing. TSM WORKS!!

8,

Nal's side effects tend to be fairly mild and will pass quickly. The only one that stuck with me was feeling tired. From day one, Nal would tend to make me tired. The side effect was less at times than others, but stuck with me right up to the end. However, this feeling of tiredness was most noticeable if I was just hanging around not doing much. If I was active, it didn't seem to bother me.

Work up to the 50mg and don't look back and never drink without it.
