Netty - just reading this now.

Wow. You are a trooper - that would have been a very shortened week and a quick car trip for the Grandma-mother / boyfriend to the nearest Holiday Inn if it had been me. And watching your oldest's first relationship about to blossom, so to speak, is a major trigger...on many levels. So, I think you deserve a few dozen gold stars for this week from a TSM standpoint as well as a good hosting standpoint.

I hope your daughter makes smart choices and keeps the lines of communication open with you. That's about all we can do when they are at this point (although mine are not at that age yet, so very easy to say)...must be incredibly hard to watch, but hopefully everything you've taught her will kick in over the hormones.

My gosh Netty - you are an incredibly stong person. Having 2 teenage daughters and being EXTREMELY offended by racism, I'd have been bouncing off the walls and landing in a HUGE glass of beer! Cheers to you! :D

My daughter's boyfriend went home, and peace reigns (for now, anyway). No AF days, but still at about 14 beers/wk, and not a day over 3 ... it's a nice place to be. ;)

Nettie -- You are gracious beyond what ordinary mortals should be asked to tolerate. I'm sure that daughter's mother (grandmother) provided teachable moments in spades about values. And through it all your newfound threshold of control over your own alcohol situation hopefully provided some serenity/control in what otherwise had the potential to be a chaotic situation.

I'm going to pm you with thoughts/experience about supervising an internet situation with a teen.

I cannot tell you how happy I am you are a part of us.

Judging by what I've seen of Lena's investigative skills, those poor adolescents chasing after her daughters on the internet do not stand a chance.

Hi folks -- haven't posted in a while, but that's because my almost life-long "relationship" with alcohol is now where I hoped it would be on all counts -- frequency, volume, and mindset. Consequently, there's not much to say except, THANK YOU TSM! :), and to wish all those struggling with alcohol addiction the same success. Please, don't give up -- the CURE is worth the wait!

hi Netty! I am just seeing this now but did see your name on the cured list (as well it should be) :D

CONGRATULATIONS!

Out of everyone on the board, your progress has been 100% text book and quite facinating to witness...I know part of it is your own uniqueness - you set a goal and achieved it with the help of the Nal rather than just waiting for the Nal to work. So very happy for you - I've been posting how much better my life is without alcohol. It's a bit odd to do, but I think it is helping some people out there that are just deciding whether to start or not. I hope you can do the same - I agree with WTE the happy-ever-after posts are just as important as the is-this-working? posts. [and I know it's not really happy-ever-after...but amazingly life is actually EASIER without excess alcohol - who would've thought?]

Take care and please keep posting!
