Has anyone else experienced this? It only started happening to me when I take Naltrexone. Even if I only drink 4 or 5 beers usually the next day and sometimes the day after when I try to fall asleep I wake up many times gasping for air. It is very scary amd I am worried if it is a damaged heart from all my drinking although my blood test came back great for liver , cholesterol and blood pressure. It is like a mini panic attack and sometimes I will fall asleep and wake up gasping 4 or 5 times. Also feels like my throat is closing up. Is this anxiety caused by Naltrexone??? I will go get an ECG to rule out congestive heart problems but I am only 33 and in fairly good shape?!?!?!

TunneLight, check with a doc on this for sure. If it's panic, then that could come from the Nal or a sudden reduction in drinking or both. If it's an allergic reaction, that could be very serious indeed so you want to rule that out.

I think the doctor here will just tell me to stop taking it because they wont perscribe it here. Also if it was an allergic reaction wouldnt it happen right away and not the day after? How would they test for an allergy?

You have a good point, unless it was from a metabolite of the Naltrexone. Tough to say as I'm not a doctor. Could have been just straight panic/anxiety afaik, have you cut back on the phenibut already? That could be contributing too.

No it started happening before the phenibut . It may be anxiety because if I take the phenibut or a benzo the shortness of breath goes away. I am gonna go to the doctor my next day off. Get my ticker checked and also my lungs and ask if there is any way to get am allergy test from the Naltrexone. Or I guess I could try just taking Naltrexone and not drinking once and see if I still get the shortness of breath...

Hmm. You may still get the shortness of breath from not drinking as much in that case. Does phenibut act as an antihistame? If not, that might tend to point towards anxiety too, whether from withdrawal or from Naltrexone blocking your endorphins (or both).
