So you think the "Introduce Yourself" should be a single thread rather than a forum where each entry is a standalone post?

At MWO (and indeed other forums) when a new member introduces themselves a new thread is usually started as we have done here) then other members say Hi to the newbie on that thread.

At the moment it may seem a bit strange as we all 'know' each other already, but I think it is the best way to go, or else if a newbie just makes a HI post on an existing thread he is likely to be missed when we have more people joining up.

Just my 2 cents anyway!

Well I guess it doesn't matter. But as more members arrive, it would seem that the majority of threads would be a collection of members intro. Also, I find myself jumping from thread to thread to thread to say hi to everyone. Like I said, it is hardly important and the forum will quickly take on a life of its own.

Hi Marbella,

I just want to say hi and thank you for giving me so much encouragement and advice. I wasn't a member of MWO, so I'm quite a newcomer, but it has been great to have the support of you and others in such a short time. I posted a reply to some of the things you and others said on my own introduction thread, but I wanted to say hi to you here aswell. I'm certainly no expert, and my last post on my own thread was done when I was feeling down and negative, but I haven't given up on the Sinclair Method and I now realise that my high drinking level does not mean the method will not work for me. I'm also very interested in the medication baclofen as a possible treatment, but that is not what this group is about so I won't go into that publicly here.

I'd like to wish you the very best in all ways, and of course especially in your quest to reduce your drinking and achieve whatever your goal is in the long term.

what ever happens in relation to all you old mates - HELLO - I am new and want to say hi and hope to see some/all of you in various threads etc. I am on night 1 on NAL. Doing the Sinclair method by personal choice. Dr prescribed it as taking one a day in the morning and not drinking. Hah - I will show him!
PS marbella - your really great at all this and your one of the reasons I chose to do this method. Your comments are really informative and helpful and that was before I even registered.
Update - excellent first night. 2.5 drinks.

Aaw, Thank you Greg and Cash, I feel quite humbled!

It was just what I needed as my spirits are a bit low today after drinking yesterday- It is great to be here and have support from such nice people.

Greg, have you read Ocean's post in the 'Introduce Yourself' section?

While I am already a very firm believer in the Sinclair method, you will probably find it interesting.

Hi Greg,
We are a Sinclair Method group but I don't think you will be persecuted for telling us about your baclofen experience. Education is always good.

Cash, glad to see you here and on the Method. There are several who have started in the last few days to you will have enrolled in the latest class, so to speak.

Hi Marbella and SR,

I continue to be grateful to people like you, who are always so willing to help others and keep in touch.

I did indeed read Ocean's post, and replied. I was very embarrassed too, as I had started writing you (M) a personal message but then started reading ocean's post, and then said hi using your name (i.e. I said Hi Marbella to ocean!!). Ocean is just as kind as you folks so I felt less embarrassed about it after we messaged each other. I'm just grateful that alcohol does not make me aggressive or embarrassing in public. My intake remains at astronomical levels each night, and I cannot easily get drunk anymore due to my huge tolerance level. If I did drink enough to get drunk, I'd be intoxicated most of the following day, and sober up just in time to start drinking all over again. I don't even seem to get hangovers much anymore. This is pathetic, and a waste of life. I remain open-minded about the possibilty of different classes of medication being able to relieve cravings and addiction, since (as I understand it) alcohol affects several important neurotransmitters in the brain simultaneously, not just one type. Therefore, more than one class of medication could possibly help end the addiction process, although I must admit that the Sinclair Method of naltrexone use seems one of the most promising of all.

Best wishes to all,
Greg

Hi Sinclarians! Just catching up with your progress, it's been a while since I've stopped by. I can see you are attracting new folks and that the discussions continue to be informative and sometimes spicy.

I continue to be fascinated by this method and hope to introduce it later this spring to a family member. Take care.
