So my doctor prescribed Naltrexone to me for cravings once a day 50mg. Obviously I am not following his orders because I am after TSM.
I do not drink alcohol everyday, I am a binge drinker. Once I taste it i don't stop till I black out. Its gotten worse last two years.

That is a little background, I am thinking of upping my dosage. I've taken naltrexone 4 times. I am amazed how well it works for killing the head rush, making me feel flat. At the same its hard to explain. I Feel the head rush, but its stopping below my ears or my nose. Is this in my head because I am drinking alcohol or is 50mg not enough?

I am drinking much slower for sure. Two out of the four times I've drank on the pill I've went to bed by myself because I felt sick and tired of the alcohol. The last two times I've used alcohol I had 10 beers, way less then usual. At the same time its still too much. I am not a neurologist or a psychologist I have no idea how this drug works. If more is better or not.

TL,DR

Feels like naltrexone not covering all my receptors. Not smart enough or have education to understand if more nal will work better.
Also is there a behavior aspect here where I drink 12 beers and I will still drink 12 beers because my mind expects it?

50 is usually enough to do the trick. I can't see where it would hurt to try some A/B tests though.

Even though you may feel a rush, the main job of Naltrexone is to stop the addicted part of your brain from remembering that alcohol = pleasure. You may still feel pleasure though. I didn't really notice any difference in how drinking beer felt, but TSM worked for me anyway.

WRT the quantity per session, there is indeed the habit aspect. Try to slow down your drinking, but go for a slow, even taper if you can. Sip, don't gulp. Put the beer back in the fridge and knock out a quick 10 minute task. Go back and have another sip, put the beer down and check something out on the web. Keep going like that and see how you get along with it. Listen for your brain to tell you when you're done drinking for the night and act on that by leaving the beer in the fridge or pouring the rest of that can out. I understand that listening for that point of indifference can be harder for bingers, but don't stop looking for it.
