Hey Shasha,

Thank you for your support, and I wish you well. Hopefully we'll all keep in touch during this journey of ending our slavery to alcohol addiction.

Hi Samsara - I think you and I are going through the same emotions. I feel the same way here - scary to go through this with drugs from the internet, little or no doctor help...I'm not so worried about it not working as I am that the medication will do something harmful to me because it's not from a prescription. But to add to SR's point...I have not heard any horror stories about River Pharmacy.

Last night (day 2) I had really bad nausea and felt disoriented after taking the pill - 25mg. I ate a bunch of saltine crackers, had some tea and got up and moved around started talking etc. (just pushed through it) and found it went away in an hour. Also had to force myself to drink 8 oz of wine, and that was totally enough. Went to bed and fell right asleep but I keep waking up around 4:00 and then every hour after. I take Tryptophan to help me sleep and at one point woke up with a pain in my chest thinking it was a heart attack : ). So, also pushing through the scaredy cat in me these first few days and then I will be good to go. It's just new stuff, so I think it's normal to worry a bit at first.

This morning feel great so far. Nice to not have a hangover again. For those who have not started yet, the only difference I notice drinking on Nal (other than not having any cravings) is I used to get a little burn in my stomach that would slowly spread out to my limbs while drinking the first glass. I didn't notice that the last few nights, but other than that, to me it still feels like drinking wine (tastes the same) but just doesn't send my body into a little kid happy dance with each sip. And the beauty is, I don't miss the happy dance. At all. And so far, no signs of this med increasing depression or anxiety (other than the fear described above).

Love this so far. And I know from reading the posts from the 'old-timers' that it may go back to normal next week. But I'm hoping this is how I will feel at the end of 4 months. So hopeful. :D

Hi Happy4once - I can understand how you must feel about "internet drugs", and feel rather lucky I got it on prescription.

Last night, day 2, I took 25mg and felt no side-effects, except the sleep disruption (I too take a sleeping tablet, and am used to sleeping very well - too well maybe?). I drank less than normal (without trying) with less craving. Today I am very tired and a bit stomach-achey (prob stress-related), and have decided on 25mg for another night as parents coming over and don't really fancy puking over Mum's casserole!

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Hi happy for once - marvellous description of alchohol speading through body - pre Nal that is. I am on night one and know it is the honeymoon but after a long time worried about drinking too much - tonight I drank about a quarter of what I would normally.

You guys that just started Nal, the nausea is normal and seldom goes past two days. And enjoy the honeymoon. It is a mini snap-shot of things to come.

It's great to see others signing on. It is also good to have several sign on together so they can relate to each others progress. That is exactly what happened with me. It seems to come in waves.

Good luck to us, one and all

Hi Shasha,

I'm really pleased that there are a few of us on this forum that are getting the SM ball rolling in old Blighty! For my part, I haven't actually started yet but, as mentioned in another thread, I have an appointment with Dr Berkowitz (see Dr Eskapa's thread in the Sinclair Doctors section) next Monday (16 March). To coin a well-known phrase, the Sinclair Method is the best thing since sliced bread from my point of view.

Watch this space!

V.

Not sure what you mean???? Are you in a similar position? - have read through posts but can't find your back-history.

Shasha, I have only just seen this- One of these days I shall get round to writing a bit of history down, but Yes, in a nutshell that is about it!

Female/44/Spain but from the UK, started drinking as a teen, no kids, just 5 dogs and 3 cats:)

Hi Virgil, it's good we're getting going in the UK. Just posted a message on SpringerRider's thread about how to approach doctors, etc, which describes my experience trying to get started on SM here - no-one seems to know about it at all!

Hi Marbella, LOL, pretty much twins apart from I have 2 dogs, 3 cats and a horse! Hopefully the SM will eliminate the bad days when I am sorely tempted to kick the dogs, string up cats and send neddy to the glue factory!

Had an excellent night, 50mg and "only" 7.5 units - first time in years! (apart from AF spells, sporadic and short-lived) - and all without effort.

Take care all. Shasha
