Welcome Action Girl

Love your name!

Your progress sounds good. I'm going to the dentist this afternoon. Hope they don't have to do anything. I normally get the happy gas- not sure if that is opiate based. I had a Nal at 630 last night.

As far as tips go - just read the forum, there are some great posts about side effects, hard times, good times.
Ive found this Board amazing - people have been so supportive here.

Hi Actiongirl--I'm new as well. I can relate to what you said about your alcohol use--4-6 per day and a lot of shame about not being able to be AF.

Thanks Maggie!! You are right, the Nal would have worn off by a dentist appointment. I tend to overthink . . . so I'll just do it for both of us :) :) Arrg!!!

I am still on 25mg. I think my body has adjusted well now. Next week I'll put it up to 50mg as that was my drs recommended dose. Then I think I'll be truly launched!!

Maggie, I also appreciate the advice to just let Nal do its thing. I'm going to work on that one, thank you for saying that. My units have been higher this week. I've been traveling for work, this is normal for me when I do this, as I am not home in my usual routine.

Week 1: 21 units/ 1 day AF
Week 2: 35 units/0 AF

LOL AG - yes, you sound as if you are calming down a little bit - good! The great thing about the nal IS that one just takes it at least an hour before drinking and other than that, life goes on as usual - no worrying about the what ifs !! And yes I think it would be prudent to go up to 50mg now ....

Hugs, Maggie

One thing I noticed yesterday was a VERY STRONG craving. Much stronger than normal. I wonder if this is due to not having 1 -2 AF days last week?

Some context is I came home. Hubs and I have decided not to have any wine in the house. We currently have those "session" craft beers which are low alcohol (4.7%). Thank goodness he had bought some as I'm not sure what I would have done. So, perhaps I was fighting an AL deprivation knowing we (I) have committed to keeping wine out of the house??

It was so noticeable to me . . . very strong and compulsive.

Anyway, I am starting the 50mg today. Have a good Saturday all!

Actiongirl, I think that there are just times that we have more of a craving than others. I often have a very strong craving if I have gone too long without having alcohol, for instance during a cleanse. It is called the alcohol depravation affect. I think it is important not to fight a craving like that but to have the alcohol to help the extinction process along.

Welcome to the forum. It was a HUGE help to me when I first started and, as I continue to nal on, it is still a help.
