Well done Saltair - you're sticking with it so all is good.

It has been quite a while and I thought I should file a report.

I'm still super terrible about tracking drinks. I really tried and I am just no good at it. Bit of advice for those struggling with it - don't sweat it. Works anyway.

I've been really good about taking naltrexone an hour before drinking. Somehow I am at 100% compliance, with a few times where I took a pill and started drinking 20-30 mins later.

I've never been good about re-upping my dose with extended drinking sessions. Maybe I should but I am frankly amazed with my progress so far.

Here is my current status: I rarely drink at all during the week, nearly every day I happily do my stuff and don't even think about alcohol. I drink a lot of broth, tea, and decaf coffee in the evenings, a habit I picked up back when I was trying. Weekends I drink Fri & Sat, sometimes Sun. Generally 4-6 drinks a night, with fairly frequent heavier drinking - 10-15 drinks per night here and there.

Before anyone thinks that is bad, my drinking before was way worse. I was drinking every day for years, 4 drinks a day minimum with 10 being typical. 30 drinks in a day on a heavy day.

So in sum my drinking is around 1/10th what it used to be. My poor liver gets a rest 4-5 days a week and the weekend workouts are far less toxic. I think I'll always love alcohol, but at least now I have a loose lid on it without any real willpower.

I can cut down easily but I have a better time if I don't. If anyone has guidance I am happy to listen. I'm really impressed with my progress and very grateful to all the info and stories here.

Saltair, if you're happy with where you are, then keep on with it. If there's still craving driving you're consumption, the Nal will eventually get rid of it. Restoring your choice is the aim of TSM and if you're not there, you're on your way to it by the sound of things.

Saltair, thanks for checking in. It's really important for newer members to hear things are going well in the long-term and in your case I suspect it will get even better. Take care...

keep it up, Saltair; sounds like you're well on the way! I recommend trying again to be more on your tracking, and I think you'll be even more surprised. also, if you pass through a "honeymoon period" you'll really know if you're spiking again. good luck!

Saltair,

Wow - that is an awesome result from TSM! Down to 1/10th of your prior drinking with plenty of AF days. Your right about your liver being rested. I was lucky enough to have a scan of my liver a couple of weeks before I started last year and it showed it was moderately fatty. After one year on TSM, I had the same test ran and the tech said my liver was fine! I questioned the tech because I could not believe it and she confirmed that it "normal"! I used to say, "a liver is a terrible thing and it must be punished". Now I say, "the liver is one tough hombre to be able to take the punishment and still recover"!

Great to hear your positive results!
