keep going with the flow on the AF days. AF days will really help tell your mind and body of little you need AL. Nal on!

Hello TSMers

I've had a good week with 11 units and 4 AFDS. I had 3 drinks last night and I felt so tired and demotivated today. I actually feel like a drink tonight but dont want to have the Nal tirednesss thing tomorrow so I'll give it a miss. I admit I feel like a non nal drink. But I guess I'll just go and distract myself.- no Im having a nal. I have changed my mind. I will have a beer in one hour.

I wonder if its the Nal that causes the tiredness or the Nal plus alcohol. I know that if I have a lot of drinks -say 6 the nalover is heaps worse so I guess it is the combination. I might post a new thread on Nalovers.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

MD

Good one on the AF days and the units MD - I am not sure re the nal causing tiredness - I am sure that it is different for everyone though. Have to admit that that was not a SE for me .....

Hugs, Maggie

Thank you lovely people for your support. You are the only people I can talk to about TSM. Without you I think I would have given up. I really appreciate your advice and experiences.

Hello
Weekly progress report- numbers up this week. It was a long weekend here in Australia and we had ANZAC day where we remember our fallen. It is traditionally a big drinking day too and people play a betting game called 2 Up as it's the only day where it's legal. I always go play with my brother and friends at a local club. It is always a lot of fun to catch up with old friends. I took my Nal and counted 4 beers which was probably 6 units. Now in past years I would move on to wine or spirits so while it is still a lot and too much to drink it is a lot less than before Nal. I was intoxicated but not too bad. I felt pretty bad the next day but not as bad as previous years.

Back to lower numbers this week I think.
Hope everyone is having a good week.

MD

That's sounding pretty good under the circumstances, MD. I'd say you're coming along really well!

Confession Time

I was going out on Saturday night to see a band and I decided not to take a Nal. I didnt notice a buzz but I drank 9 units. - 6 bottles of beer. This is less than I used to drink on a big night but I did notice taking my beer with me on the dance floor which is just stupid. I learnt my lesson. Im not going to do that again. Why did I want to drink wthout Nal ? Because I guess I wanted the buzz. I was craving and the whole scene was around drinking - with my best friend and my brother. I was drunk. I didnt get into any trouble. I didnt fight with my partner but I was running around like a bit of a lunatic. At least I stuck with beer and didnt change over to wine or spirits as in my pre-nal days.

On the upside I only drank on Friday and Saturday nights which is I guess an aim of mine- it's how normal people drink- no not as many as I had but just on the weekend. I didnt have any cravings on Sunday. I took my mum out for Mother's Day and my daughter and had a big vanilla milkshake- yum.

Ive also told the leader of my SMART Recovery group about TSM and I offered to talk about it to the group. He wants me to just talk about the CBT impact- how using Nal has changed my habits/my thinking.

Will post about how it goes.

Happy Belated Mother's Day to you all and hope youre all having a good week

MD

Glad you're back on the Nal after the outtake, I guess you could say that was proof positive that you're missing something (and that's a good thing). Though it might raise the question: What are you going to fill in with that gives you the endorphin hit?

Good to hear too that you've limited your drinking to the weekend, that's a great accomplishment!

Seems to me the Nal gives my conscious mind a chance to get a word in edgewise, without the craving drowning out everything else I might think. It gives me choice. I remember what my habits and thinking were before, that's a place I never want to go back to.
