Hello everyone. I have had tremendous success With The Sinclair method in the past, but I decided to stop taking the treatment and my alcohol intake has gotten back to the point I was previously at. I went from 12 - 15 drinks a day to 1-2 drinks a day after around four months of treatment. It was about 5 years ago and since then I've had off and on bouts of sobriety abstinence followed by drinking. It's difficult because I still enjoy drinking and associated with fun, however I am seeing negative consequences in my life. So I've decided to try nal again and see if I can reduce my drinking to acceptable levels. It's really the only thing that ever works for me in the past besides total abstinence which I find very difficult to sustain. The only drawback is my body sensitivity to the drug but I know that it's effective. Thanks and I hope to sustain the treatment and achieve similar results as last time

Good luck to you!! Yes, unfortunately, if you are going to drink you have to keep taking it or the levels apparently creep back up. Small price to pay!! Nal on!! Newlife

Good deal, invasionoftokyo! Glad to hear you're getting back on the Nal.

I'm not surprised that straight abstinence doesn't work for you, it only works for about 10% of the people. The rest just keep relapsing.

Like Newlife said, you have to stick to The Golden Rule and take the Nal an hour before you drink, without fail.

Be on the lookout for any underlying issues that tempt you to go back to drinking without Nal, it's very common to have an undiagnosed depression or anxiety issue. Many are used to "treating" those problems by drinking.

Keep checking in and let us know how you're doing, great support around here! You'll get this back under control, for sure!
