Don'cha just love that stuff? Occasionally, I like to point people to the statistics about this.

Jaba, that also jumped out at me. My mom did take antidepressants, and I don't blame her. She lost her husband to cancer and 5 months later we lost my brother to an accident. I went on them at that time also. My sister also has the snap out of it mindset.
I am feeling old, I will be turning 59 in a month. I also feel like I have that cloud. I only enjoy my evenings and watching tv in my room. I can't take wellbrutrin due to the fact that I had a seizure in the past. I checked it out because my doc is using it to help someone lose weight.
I have no energy, and blood-work is fine. I feel so fat and I have nice clothes but have no energy to go to the gym. I will make an appointment for the doc next week. I am on a minimal dose of meds.I may cut it in half and start upping it.
I took myself, with doc approval, off an anxiety medication. I am not anxious, I am blue, sad, feeling old, fat and tired.
Thanks all.

Meggie -

I heard from someone recently that's here in the rainy, gray Pac NW. She got a boost from taking a couple of Turmeric caps in the morning and using a full spectrum light panel (for SADS), maybe worth checking out.

I've been reading a book called The Upward Spiral by Alex Korb. Gets good reviews on Amazon and GoodReads. The premise is that a small thing can echo and cause changes throughout the brain, leading to a "downward spiral" and depression. The author talks about how to use that effect to your advantage, so you can make a small change and start generating an "upward spiral". This gives you some tools to make some changes to "the system" where you do have relatively easy access and can more effectively act to your own benefit and turn the tide in your favor. You'll be able to get wise to when (for instance) your amygdala starts barking at you like a nervous dog and what to do about it.

Which antidepressant are you using now and how long have you been taking it?

Hang in there, Meggie! TSM has helped me cut my intake considerably so far and just getting 60% of the alcohol out of the picture has made a big difference in how I look and feel. Even for a 63 year old geezer like me.

Meggie, both jaba and Joe have said some great things and had some good ideas. I was depressed pretty much my whole life - was put on AD's about 20 years ago and could not believe the change in me when they kicked in - it was as if that black cloud over me just duisappeared. However, I also noticed that my AL intake - well, not so much the intake but the frequency, went up too when I was put on them. However when I came off them (about three years ago) I did not notice my intake or frequency go down - guess it was all too much of a habit by then. I KNOW that you want this to work - but I keep saying this - 7 months is NOT the end of the road - I took nearly a year! With hardly any changes then boom - overnight I stopped! Please just keep plodding on with it - maybe try and change your tipple - instead of vodka which is so small an amount, drink beer - or hey, here's an idea - how about Guinness? Seriously, even wine would be more volume so might take longer to drink than vodka... I never drank shorts so have no idea if it is easy to change ones drink when that is what one drinks!

You will get there - I am sorry that I do not have any better suggestions - but you have been given some good advice by the others,

hugs to you, Maggie x

Plugging along. I remember when I first started I was so tired. I am back to that state. Going to try a new Plexus product and program to help give energy, help with stomach issues and other issues. It is worth a try. Again, thanks all. Also, making an appointment with doctor.

Is your gut giving you troubles?

Oh, I take meds for thyroid problems and they are always checking it. I also have IBS and take medication for that. Then i take medication for seizures, the neuro did say I could go off the medication. I don't want to because my memory is so much better on the medication.
Jaba, I have heard about that thyroid pill and was going to check into it this summer.
Thank you all.
Home again with a 103 temp, on medications. These last two years I have gotten everything that has gone around. After 30 years in the classroom you would think I am immune .
