I know I need to do more mindful drinking. Easier said then done Also, Joe that website you sent me was very encouraging. I know I have to really want this to make it work.

Me too. Sometimes I have one or two, then I binge the next night with 10. It's a bit frustrating but part of the journey I guess...

I look on it as a kind of "self-monitoring" system, so you know when Nal is giving you more "muscle" against drinking than you might have had before. Eventually Nal will get you there anyway, it's just a chance to accelerate control, if you're looking to do that. Either way it's ok.

I am finding that I can't taste the drink so I am adding more vodka to get the effect. I know it is crazy but I am search of the high and not getting it. I wish I could just say, not getting the high so why keep looking for it. Monday it will be 7 months. I am still taking the med and trying the mindful drinking. It is sooooo quiet on this site.

Jaba is right on! I think the 'searching for the high' is called an extinction blast and like Jaba said, your brain will figure out it's favorite diversion doesn't work anymore. That's where you plug in a new one via the AF weekend (Nal on Friday, no Nal on Saturday or Sunday, endorphin releasing activity on Sunday afternoon), that allows your brain to learn there's a new way to get the endorphins.

Thank you to the both of you. I have been drinking heavy for about 10 years. I never drank at all until my 40's. I was too busy with a small child and family issues. I will reread the book. It may give me some perspective.
I have contacted Johanna again, but she didn't get back to me the last time. I will keep plugging.
Jaba, 50 pounds, that is wonderful.
I also think I need to look at an antidepressant, I am blue and have no energy. My blood work is good so that isn't it.

Meggie,

I am not receiving your email.

Please check the email address - I notice you are calling me Johanna and there is no 'h' in my name so I am wondering if you are writing Johanna in the email address too.

The correct email address is Joanna@cthreeeurope.com

You can use the "View Active Topics" link to see where the action is. Also, when you post, there's a little tick box called "Notify me when a reply is posted". If you put a checkmark in that, then you'll get an email notification that will let you know when somebody has replied to your post. I think the folks here can testify that much sits longer than a day without getting a reply from me at least (lol!). Be sure to check your junk mail folder, just in case the notifications are getting thrown in there. Replies from Joanna may go in there too, so keep an eye peeled. You may need to add her (and "admin@thesinclairmethod.com" ) to your "Safe Senders" list to ensure the replies and notifications end up going to your inbox instead of the "junk mail" folder.

Sorry you're feeling blue, an antidepressant might be a good move for you, but do be aware that it can be difficult to get a good match, especially when alcohol is involved. Some can cause an increase in craving, so just keep an eye peeled for that should you start on one. It's just peculiar to the antidepressant and your unique chemistry and circumstances, I certainly don't mean to put you off on the idea. One book that I've been reading lately is The Upward Spiral by Alex Korb. It's about $14 on Amazon and gets good reviews there and on Goodreads. Might be worth checking out!

You may want to consider checking in here every day or two for a couple of weeks, if only for moral support and commiseration. We just don't want you to feel alone out there, you know we'll always be your pals!

:D Joanna and Joe, you guys are wonderful. Sorry, Joanna, I will have to check my phone to see if I emailed the right address. You were wonderful getting back to me last time. I am going to read the book again for further insight. I also will check that box so I get emails.
