congrats on the new baby!

a agree that cutting pills in your situation is worth a try. at least you will learn how effective (or not) it is for you...

good luck!

ditto, cut your pills to stretch them out. Maybe try to set a limit (if possible), drink gulps water in between sips of alcohol to help slow you down (if anything you will be hydrated). Hopefully your pills come quick.

Keep us posted,

Jaba

Hi all. Long time no post.

Things have gotten better. the Wife is on board with helping me via TSM. I received my 90 pills and have been cutting them in half to make them last since my new doctors dont want to prescribe it. over all I'm beginning to lose count - I've been sticking to 3 days a week max and as much as I want - but I gotta say - I'm finally back to the stage where I'm literally debating continuing drinking after my 2nd or 3rd drink.

I've also just recently purchased The "Pavlok." For a quick summary - it is a wrist watch that you can push a button that shocks you. Sound terrible, but hear me out. The purpose of the device is to help you break bad habbits. Since we are already on TSM and can stick to the rule of Taking Nal 1 hour before Drinking, I'm sure I could stick to the rule of every time I have a drink - I get to receive a shock.

I want to try the Pavlok out for the following:
Nail biting
Drinking Alcohol
Eating sugar/carb fatty foods
Procrastinating during study time
Sleeping in
Skipping going to Gym

I've researched that its best to focus on 1 or 2 habits at a time. So I'm going to try Drinking alcohol and another habit first.

The device will take about a week to get here, so we will see how it goes. I'll try to update you all then.

Good luck and see you soon.

Wow, GuyJeb, good to hear from you. I am so glad your wife is on board and that you are doing so well on TSM.

One thing I will say for you is: you are willing to try anything!! And you never keep trying. Good for you as I know you have a lot to get sober and improve your life for.

Nal on!!

Sounds like things are going well for you, GJ! Keep on rollin!

Your drinking may bounce up and down a bit, but that's to be expected. Concentrate on slowing down the first drink, so you get in the habit of doing that and really notice how you're feeling.

Sorry you're having such a problem with the docs! Your insurance company needs to get a clue, as this is the way Kaiser and VA Medical prescribe oral Naltrexone these days. Harrrumph!

You mentioned the shocking wristwatch.

Back when I started TSM and was looking for ways to deal with urges, I put a rubber band around my wrist. Every time I felt like guzzling something, I snapped my wrist.

now that I think about it, I think it actually made a pretty big difference, although I don't get urges anymore

Yeah, I think TSM has an bit of aversion therapy in it, but you know what, it works.
