Joe - I am hoping to keep that Captain locked up tight in the dungeon. Better him there than me being in the dog house.

Jaba - I think vacations and days with my old drinking buddies will keep me off the cured list for awhile. I know it is my weakness so I am working on it a little at a time. I am extremely pleased where I am right now but I am not over confident as it only takes one bad night to ruin your life! I may consider myself cured if I can act like a grown up at an annual conference I go to in June. Twenty years or more of acting the fool during that week has me worried. After last year's meeting I started looking for help again. Thankfully this time I found you and the rest of the gang here. So if I can get by that with out being a foolish drunk I just may start thinking that I have AL where I want it.

Week 36 Another ok week with one unexpected overdoing it night. Had a card night that I expected to have several over a long period of time and one other night that showed clearly that I am not yet "cured". Went out to dinner with wife and shared a bottle of wine. But it went so quickly we ordered another one. No big deal but then when I went home I drank some water and for some reason decided an hour later I would have "one" more. Ended up drinking 3! So that was the big night of the week. Did not plan on it. But goes to show how I will always have to keep my guard up. Thankfully no NAL over but just a little bit slow and not feeling 100% the next day.

So for the week 24 units and 4 AF days. 1,0,0,8,15,0, and 0.

Still a far cry from pre-TSM days. Seems like you've still got all 4 wheels on the road so far, good observation about keeping your guard up!

Reboot,

I have to keep my guard up at all times as well. If I didn't have nal overs I am sure things would be different for me. It is funny when you have the waitress ask (after 2 long islands) are you sure you don't want one more, and that stupid brain is screaming YES, but by the look of my husband, and the thought of a nal over, I said no. It was harder when she said again are you really sure, but I knew better. I am just thankful that at resorts the alcohol in mixed drinks are not that strong, for normally with 2 long islands the next day I would have paid for it.

Remember, you are still very early in this process, and your progress still looks amazing even with that night out playing card and that night with the wife.

Keep up the good work,

Jaba

Well I would call week 37 a little step back. Not gonna complain much - as I am still doing good overall. Two steps forward and one step backwards is a pretty familiar pace for me! Did it plenty of nights prior to NAL. But I did top 50 units this week for the first time in awhile. 51 total units - 0,1,18,12,4,8, and 8. The good news is that this week will be back to normal with only one big night out scheduled.

Reboot, you are still way under your pre Nal intake - so I think you are doing well. And even if it is two steps forward, one back, you are still going forward! You are going to get there, I know you are - I had lots of hiccoughs on my journey but got there in the end! Just keep taking the Nal, and posting - you are doing just fine!! You sort of sound a tad frustrated about it - please just hang in there, have faith and be patient!

hugs, Maggie

Reboot,

I agree with Maggie; never give up and never surrender!

I think your brain might have your inner child held captive, but don't worry it will let it go! It will have no choice in the end. In the mean time, just do what you have been doing and remember that list that your wrote. For that list was what you have accomplished so far, and no one can take that away from you (and very inspiring).

You are still very early in this process, and your progress really is amazing.

Keep the faith and nal on,

Jaba

No worries about me giving up Jaba and Maggie I am here for the long run! I really have deep appreciation about how much the TSM has helped me get control over AL for the first time in my life. It may not be total control yet -but it will be. I may never give up AL a 100% BUT I WILL GET 100% CONTROL OVER IT! Of course, a big thanks to you "angels" that are always here to listen and give support.

It took me over 40 years of drinking and going down hill due to AL so I am certainly not going to stop at 8 months when I am going back up the hill :!:
