No, it's still kind of unpredictable. Sometimes it's the next day after I have breakfast or lunch, sometimes it's about an hour before I take the Nal (which is around my usual post time, 5 pm or later). Sometimes taking the Nal makes the SE's lessen, or having the first drink will have that effect. I really wish I knew the neurology of it, but it's declining on the whole. The major feature of it is the lack of balance and it's very much like the lack of balance I would get (pre-Nal) when I reached my limit of drinking for the evening and would have to use a wall to steady myself. The other parts like lack of concentration and ability to multitask seem to improve as I drink less.

I guess I'm just one of those odd exceptions, but as long as it's improving overall it will be worth it in the long run.

Yes, TSM is working for me and the SE's are slowly improving, so all in all it's worth the inconvenience. Really, the SE's only got worse in the past few days, they'll likely settle down again. If I had a 9 to 5 it would probably be considerably harder to deal with, but I'm self-employed and mainly work from my home office, so nobody sees me stumbling about. Well, I'd rather stumble about a bit and be getting extinction than stumbling about more and wondering how I was going to get the booze off my back!

As I said to MD, I do wish I knew the neurochemical reason for it.

This is prolly a dumb question. But have you tried getting an anti-nausea med from your doc? That could really help with the symptoms you're describing.

In fact the OTC, generic low-dose versions of dramamine, the one that usually says something like "non drowsy formula" might just do the trick.

Because you're kinda describing sea sickness symptoms. With the dramamine just be sure to take it 30 mins to an hour before the nal as it doesn't work as well if the nausea/dizziness has already kicked in.

Good luck. Sounds like you're doing really well in the big picture of things. Which is very encouraging to newies like me.

Hmm, interesting. There is that component of it that's like being a landlubber trying to make his way along the deck. There's no nausea, but it's just that effect of not knowing where the floor is going to be, so to speak. Might give it a shot if the SE's continue this week, though the timing might be a bit difficult.

Thanks, T.O.!

Hi JSP
That is weird isn't it at different times? I had loss of balance feelings like my brain being slower than my head type feelings after the nal but not the next day. Does it last long? Does it feel like you will fall over? I don't know why Im asking these questions as Im not a doctor and wouldn't know what to do with the answers!
But anyway I hope they subside for you .

Yes, it is odd. When I first started, I would get the notion that I was suddenly going to do a sudden face plant, but that faded within a couple of weeks. I got the feeling that I was going to undercorrect and fall over, but I became careful enough that I managed to avoid that.

Last night wasn't bad at all, still got the feeling that the soles of my boots had turned to foam rubber, which is a feeling that I had from the start. It's just been a question of the severity of the symptoms and last night was the best so far. If I can get through the day without it popping up, that will certainly be a good omen.

Thanks M.D.!

Joe,

I am so sorry to hear about the side effects you are experiencing.

It almost sounds like the vertigo I would get with my allergies, and the only thing the doctor would give me for it (beside allergy meds) is medicine for motion sickness (which I never took) to stop it, so maybe the motion sickness medicine could help you.

I do hope that it passes with time like all side effects.

Jaba

Thanks, Jaba!

Well, little or no SE's yesterday or today, fairly encouraging results so far.
