Oh dear first time my weekly units went up but as of tonight I have moved to 50 Mg so hopefully things will flatten out. This week Ive gone for having a few one drink nights rather than Afs to build up the Nal dosage. I expect I'll be very tired tomorrow on the 50mg but Im prepared now. Am going to drink mindfully tonight. It's been a 40degree day here in Sydney so the beer tastes good just no high!

I had two nights of drinking too much on Friday and Saturday nights but it was definitely less than big nights of old. During big nights of old I would not have been able to keep a count and there would have been an argument with my partner so that's a good difference too. I know still early days but things are looking good!

This is something to be very proud of, for keeping count and that count lower than pre-nal (and not fighting) is truly remarkable! You are getting there.

Nal on,

MD, sounds like you are doing really well, don't get discouraged. There are going to be ups and downs with this for sure. Each time you overdrink just tell yourself you are one step closer to extinction.

Nal on!!

Yeah, this sounds like it's all within reasonable bounds, MD. Steady as she goes.

Week 8 done and dusted. I did have one big night on the grog with 10 units - it was on a harbour cruise seeing an ACDC cover band which I love. Now 10 units is a lot- 6 beers but I do remember leaving a beer and certainly not drinking as much as my friend and I managed to keep count. I was intoxicated but did not get the rush. I also seem to have moved to 50 mg without too many issues. The next day is hard and I get depressed and tired but it is manageable - certainly not as bad as massive hangovers that last for 3 days with anxiety and depression. After Friday night's Harbour Cruise I had an AFD Saturday and then on Sunday night I went to another concert drove and had 2 beers. I enjoyed the night, danced but just didn't get drunk. Im pleased with my progress this week- of course would still like to get those big nights under control but they are a lot more under control than they used to be. Went to SMART recovery - talked about cravings, habits, how good the beach is for the soul amongst other things. Am a happy camper this week :D :D :D

Nal on !

MD,

I was smiling as I read your progress, for it sounds like things are really happening for you. You should be pleased and very proud, for leaving a beer not finished, having a AFD and only 2 beers....awesome!

I am glad that you are tolerating 50 mg without too many issues, and hopefully that will continue for you. I would get those nal overs that lasted days with that anxiety and they are not fun. It did cause me to cut down on my intake after the third one. The depressed feeling should fade with more AF days, but the tiredness after drinking might be there a little longer (I think normal people feel that effect of alcohol the next day, it sounds like you are normal).
I have never went to a SMART recovery before, but any place that talks about how the beach is good for the soul is right by me (I just wished I could live by one)! It sounds like you are enjoying those meetings, are they open to you doing TSM? It would be nice to be able to share without being stifled.

Keep doing what you're doing for it's working!

Jaba
