Hi I'm Seth, and I'm not an alcoholic, I'm human being that drinks enough to cause health problems, I'll accept alcohol use disorder though. I was in aa from 2000 - 2008 without one drink. Got my 8 year coin, a really nice gold plated one, ;) and after a while I realized I was sicker without booze then I was with it.
Fast forward to now, I'm at the point where I want to use science to help me, some friends pointed me to C 3 Foundation so I'm going to give this a go. First big hurdle get my doctors at the VA on board, and that happened today, so hopefully I'll have a bottle of naltrexone in my hands in a few weeks.

Thanks,
Seth

Welcome Seth,

I am glad you have informed friends, for this does work.

I do not know what town you are in, but Maggie goes to VA hospital and hasn't had any issues getting her nal. script from her VA Hospital. If there is an issue you can always order it from one of the online pharmacies.

Boy, that doesn't make any sense to me, could you elaborate?

Just the crazy aa headtrip, doing their steps didn't help me, lots of crazy people to model.

Hi Seth, and welcome to the TSM forum. I'm just curious - are you drinking now, or are you abstinent? Since you are here I am thinking that after 8 years you might have started drinking again but wanted to check.

Looking forward to your progress!!

- Benji

Welcome Seth!

You've come to the right place.

So the VA is savvy to TSM? That's great news!

I hope you get the meds soon, I guess in the meantime you can work on logging your intake. I'm waiting for mine too, tests came back with some elevations. Hopefully it will all look ok to my doc and I'll have the Nal in a couple of days.

So what is this counting thing? I see these numbers and have no idea, it looks confusing.

Hi, Seth. I have some background in aa. It's funny for years I was wholly turned off by aa, the label of alcoholic and casual use of the word drunks found in the program. Then I got so bad I succumbed to their world and classifications. It actually saved my life, but I sought something more definitive and scientific. Only now through TSM am I able to look at things differently. I'm shying away from the 'disease' concept and also am preferring 'AUD'. In any event, welcome.

Some folks here elect to publicly track their progress. AF = Alcohol Free days. The numbers reflect the units consumed. If you haven't already you're advised to read,"The Cure for Alcoholism". Therein you'll better understand the extinction process and/or the treatment. For example it directs participants to keep a personal log of their drinks in order for you to have a better grasp on your progress.

Keep us posted.
