Sounds like you are on the right track Ives. 3 a night was huge for me too. That's about my average now ever since I started TSM. Going down from 15 to 3 is indeed huge!

The rock climbing gym sounds like a fun thing to do. There is one down the street from me I pass on my way to work every day and I've thought about it.

Ives,

It sounds like you are heading in the right direction.

If I didn't have such bad joints I would give rock climbing a chance, and I could use the rush!

Just keep doing what you are doing, for it sounds like it is working for you.

Jaba

Week 8 was good, set a new low record by a bit. Week 9 has been less good. Got carried away yesterday and ended up with an awful hangover today. Stayed home from work and still feeling awful well into the afternoon. Already at 40 with 2 days left to go, but I have noticed lately that after a bad hangover I usually cut back a lot for the next couple of days, so there's still hope of pulling off a couple of 3's or 4's and keeping it close to last week's number.

The graph is starting to look downward-trending again. So that's nice.

I came up with a breakdown of how much I drink on average each day over the last 10 weeks:

Sun 8.8, Mon 7.0, Tue 6.1, Wed 8.4, Thu 6.9, Fri 6.9, Sat 7.9

Averaging just under 7 on weeknights with the exception of Wednesday, when I usually go out with friends and all too often overindulge. (Seeing these numbers makes me want to start skipping out on that more often.) Higher numbers on weekend days because I don't have to work and start drinking earlier. Highest on Sunday because football. Really need to try to start watching games sober. Definitely seems like the kind of activity I should be experiencing without naltrexone in my brain.

Week 0: 60
Week 1: 56
Week 2: 53
Week 3: 45
Week 4: 54
Week 5: 55
Week 6: 60
Week 7: 48
Week 8: 44
Week 9: 8, 7, 8, 7, 10

Not much to report except numbers. Bit of an uptick the last couple of weeks but overall the graph is still looking like it's trending downward with more sub-8 days and fewer 8+ days. Progress is very slow but it still feels like progress. Getting some blood tests tomorrow to check on how the vital organs are handling 7 units + 100 mg per day.

Week 0: 60
Week 1: 56
Week 2: 53
Week 3: 45
Week 4: 54
Week 5: 55
Week 6: 60
Week 7: 48
Week 8: 44
Week 9: 50
Week 10: 52

Xlnt news, Ives!

I'm not using Nal, it'll be a while until it gets here, so I've started with the HAMS taper method, dropping by a 1/2 pint a day. Made it down to 4.5 last night, almost couldn't finish it. I started from a high of 9 pints with a 4% ABV, but really have been drinking more or less every day for 30 years. I'm mindful of ADE and will have Nal on hand for future incidents.

Your progress is very encouraging. Congratulations on getting rid of the toxic relationship too!

Ives,

It sounds like you are doing great, and this does take time. I hope that your blood results come back okay.

Keep doing what you are doing.

JoeSP,

I am impressed that you are able to drop your units without the nal. I tried that before I found TSM and it worked for a day or so, for I just didn't have the right frame of mind.

I have to say when you are on the nal. it will be interesting to watch your progress, for I am very excited for you.

Jaba

Thanks, Jaba.

Yeah, I may be a bit of a different breed. Never blacked out, rarely drank during the day, never used "hair of the dog". Cut myself off when I started careening off the walls. I can put a big dent in consumption by eating, but that leads to bloat and a down mood if I don't time it right.

I may never have cause to use the Nal, but if I venture back into the brew I know zackly what to do.
