We are TOTALLY here for you, Reboot!!!!!

If it makes you feel any better, I think I'm going to have a non-AF week this week, too....

Keep on keeping on!

Well a little late on my Tuesday weekly report but still catching up from being away and of course the American holiday season has started. Last week was a mixed week. At the start I was still on my trip and the numbers were high and at the end of week I started to get back into my new normal drinking pattern. Ended up with a total of 38 units, 29 in the first two days. By the numbers: 20,9,6,0,1,1, and 1. Not really craving the AL at this point but lots of stress in the house caused by my lovely teenagers - which is making me wish I didn't get so paranoid smoking a joint! cause I could sure use some time drifting in la la land to get my mind off the stress.

I have not had much time to get on line to check out how everyone is doing but I sincerely hope everyone is doing well. This weekend does not look like it will give me a lot of free time to check on everyone - so I want to throw out a blanket THANK YOU for all the support on this site. And I want to throw my support out to all of you that are just starting out on NAL and TSM and all of those who are on here trying to get the monster off their back. Just know that all of the TSM angels were on my mind yesterday when giving thanks for what I have.

Week 23 is over and it was not bad at all considering it was a holiday week. Total for the week was 25 and 2 AF days - the vast majority of that were racked up because I switched to rum one night and had 4 Capt and Diet Cokes - extra tall and extra strong - 16 units. Evil evil rum! But never lost control - just playing cards with family and friends and sipping away. Numbers for the week were: 2,4,2,16,1,0 and 0. Seems like I always seem to finish off with a couple of AF days. Maybe some positive peer pressure caused by my Tuesday weekly report! But for the week I never had more than 2 drinks on any day except for the card playing night. I had two large glasses of red wine on Wednesday so that counted for 4 units - and on Thanksgiving I only had two beers! Normally an all day drinking day for me. Starting out in the morning when preparing the food the wife and I would normally put something in the coffee to give it an extra kick. By the time noon hit, we would switch over to beer and wine, then to rum by the end of the day. So this year I am thankful that I had NAL and TSM and all of you folks on my side!

Reboot, that truly IS something to be thankful for! So glad that you had such a great week... I must admit, I haven't gotten off to the best holiday season start.... Sigh....

Week 24 is over. It was a good week. Ended up at 15 units and 1 AF day. The count went like this, 0,1,2,4,2,4 and 2. Almost like a normal drinker. Not much else to say other than I still have that want for a drink during the day and an hour after I take a pill and wait the hour, the beer just does not taste right and without the narcotic effect I stop after 1 or 2. Weird feeling to say the least after 40plus years of never having enough.

Reboot... how long did it take for the beer/al to develop an "off" taste to you and for the "narcotic effect" of it to diminish?

Minnnie mom I would say sometime in the third month it started to wear off and although I still out drink NAL once in awhile it is normally because I allow myself to hang out in places or situations where I drink for a long time. That narcotic buzz used to hit right after the first one and I would not have even thought of stopping after 1-3 drinks like I do now. I did not notice it right away - it just sorta eased in to the new reality.

Week 25 report: Not the best as far as count goes but I did manage 4 AF days. Total units 38. Had a retirement party to go to early in week and overdid it and out drank the NAL. Was not driving thankfully. Then had a really rough and sad event happen at home this week that caused me to have a sleepless night in which I drank 2 bottles of wine and stayed up until dawn thinking about the events. So unit count went like this 5,15,0,18,0,0 and 0. Not expecting home life to go well for awhile so I have to man up and make sure I keep my drinking under control. Events happening were not drinking related for once but does not make it any easier to handle.

Reboot - sorry about the home issues - but really good on the 4 AF days! AL does not help anything that happens though - I hope that you did not have a terrible Nal-Over? It is good that you are thinking ahead and realising what is happening with you trying to drink whatever is happening away ..... hang in there my friend,

Hugs, Maggie x

Hey Reboot, so sorry about whatever is plaguing you at home. It's so natural to want to go hide inside a bottle when something s****y happens. But, as Maggie said, AL doesn't help the situation. In fact, thank your lucky stars that those 18 units didn't somehow compound the other issue!

We're here for you, please know that... Keep on keeping on!
