Good luck to you re the airport bar Reboot - I too will be at the airport and will have the same temptation - then they also serve AL on my flight to UK - but I am going to try really hard to NOT drink in either place - at the airport or in the plane !

I agree re tempers and stuff flaring - but things are easy to take out of context when it is the written word - but I think things are fine.

Sorry that you had a higher week than you wanted - I know how that goes !

Have a good week,

Hugs, Maggie x

Reboot,

I just saw that you are only on week 16, and for some reason I thought you were further along...because your intake is really good. I was a mess at week 16, for I was over drinking and having nal overs. Keep up the good work and it will come soon enough. It is the gradual subtle changes that happen with time we do not see until one day we have control.

It does seem like some tempers are flaring here and there and I certainly understand whenever you have this many people giving their true and heartfelt opinions that there will be conflict. I only hope we can keep it under control as I know if I saw a lot of conflict when I first starting lurking - I would have never kept reading and there for would have never taken the pill. And because of all of the kindness and great advise people share on this site I decided to try TSM. So this pill and this forum has enabled me to actually start to get a hold of my AL intake.

Love is the answer on this site - okay it can be tough love - but it should not be bickering since we all have the same goal. Sorry for the soapbox but needed to get it off my chest.

I agree, it is hard when different personalities flare up with different opinions. It is almost like my family reunion  . I do hope that if anyone was lurking that they realize we are just a big family and not perfect, BUT we are all here it help.

Good luck, Reboot, on your trip. Looking forward to hearing how bypassing airport bars worked for you.

Good point, reboot, on the value of not bickering because you are right, if I had seen that when I first logged on here I would have been turned off too. Life is too short. And I never thought of it from that perspective.

If I had never found this forum I would never have probably found TSM either. That seems like such a strange thought now, and a scary one.

Thanks for the update and NAL ON!! Newlife

I'm guessing you've already flown to your destination, Reboot... how you were able to avoid the airport bar!

And I'm glad you hopped up on your soapbox! I know for a fact I would've NOT come back to this forum if there had been animosity between posters when I started lurking/posting. I was already dealing with enough negativity and feeling really alone... if I thought that I might ever be the object of someone's ire, I would have run for the hills. And probably not followed through with TSM... Thanks for your courage in speaking your mind!

Ok - so I have the good news and the bad news update. I made it past the airport bar! That is the good news! Bought a book at the airport and immersed myself until I was on the plane.

But I ended up having a pretty miserable rest of the day and "had to go out to dinner in a bar" as it was the only place open when I arrived at my destination. Yeah - you can guess the bad news  Ended up closing the bar and unfortunately do not remember driving home. Something that used to happen regularly before TSM but has not happened except maybe one or two other times in last 16 weeks. Pretty sad. Pretty depressing. And really stupid cause I certainly could have gotten a DUI or killed someone. Didn't wake up until afternoon and felt pretty crappy the rest of the day. Served me right. I guess the other good news is that I did not drink a bloody mary or have a beer first thing after waking up. I did take a pill by 1pm cause I thought i would need a drink to feel better but only had a glass of wine with dinner much later that night.

The worst part was that I was getting ready to leave after I had 4-5 drinks and dinner but decided to watch one more inning of baseball. I don't even follow baseball! And that next drink must have been the one that put me on the fast lane of drinking up faster and buying drinks and being irresponsible.

I am over the depressing part I just hope that I learned something from this - unlike the hundreds of other times I did it in the past. Still have several more days away and my goal is no more baseball! or late nights!

Ok, reboot, let's celebrate your victory! Reboot = 1, Airport Bar = 0!!!

And about your slip up, it was just that... a slip up. Dust yourself off and start again. I, too, am glad you didn't get in an accident or get a dui. Coming from someone who has gotten a dui, you do NOT want one. I don't know what state you are in, but the state I live in (and got my dui) doesn't mess around... the penalties are extremely harsh. I had no idea and I'll be paying for my mistake for 2 years after it happened AND I'm about a $20,000 lighter in the pocketbook for it. Send a little thankfulness out into the universe that you made it home safely!

Best of luck avoiding more baseball and late nights! You got this!!!!

Ughhhhhhhhhhh! Another stupid NAL over! Ouch!!! Bad week shaping up. Did another long night in the bar and I am paying for it. Late for a family function cause I cant shake this misery this morning. or is it afternoon. Ugh! Gonna try to go AF today but feeling like I might need a bloody mary or something. But I wanted to jump on here so I could get my inspiration up before leaving for the function.

Reboot,

I hate to here how things ended up with you on your last trip, but MinneMom is right. Lesson learned, dust yourself off, and try again.

I have to say if it wasn't for those nal. overs I would not have cut down on my intake. So, do you know what your limit is, for the nal. is trying to tell you. Also, I have found that if I have more than 3 glasses of wine (not sure about anything else) I will want more and it is harder for me to stop and I might have a nal. over. The nal. only does part of the job for me, and the rest of the job has to be me watching my intake and making sure I stop.

If you need me to do an af day with you today I would be more than will, or if you need a drink we could do tomorrow. I am currently in a different time zone, but we can make it work!

I know you can do this Reboot, for it isn't over yet!

Jaba

I love seeing this! I don't know how helpful it would be to others, but I think it would be easier for me in your shoes. (I really love the Why Not Wednesday thread to encourage Mr. ND, as y'all know) I hope you feel better soon and take what you need from the experience. Sending supportive hugs. 8-)
