Morning everyone.
Very cool as I went on MouseCall.MD last night and had a Skype call with Dr Mike Figurski to get a new prescription of Nal here in BC, Canada. I am actually now going to make an appointment to see him in hopes that he will have forms for me to fill out for our BC Pharmacare to cover some of the costs as it is super expensive here. The first time I got 3 months of Nal for about $650.00 Canadian Dollars. After that I had been ordering online and had to have it delivered to the US and paid about $300.00 for 4 months supply but now I live to far from the US border to do that anymore.
I tried to have AF days the last 2 days but was too tempted from my bottles of wine I have as house warming gifts so drank over a bottle each night, ughhh!
Well I am really going to try for an AF day today. I find I have a terrible time getting to sleep without drinking but then when I drink I go to sleep initially but then I am wakeful at like 3AM and end up sleeping later in the morning to make up for it? I know if I could go AF for weeks I would have great sleeps.
Hope you all have a good week!
Nal On!!!!

Cheeto,

Do you take any type of OTC sleep aid? I take a few along with progesterone and I have to say it helps a lot. I use to drink for sleep (I would pass out...not sleep), and since I have been on the nal. I sleep so much better, so off of it I have to up my OTC sleep aid, and sleepy time tea.

Just a suggestion.

Jaba

I know the feeling only too well. I'm trying "sleep restriction" at the moment & it seems to be working:

Wow that is a hassle and a lot of $$ for the nal!! I was complaining about the cost here in the US but it is less. Whatever we have to do, right?

AL REALLY disturbs my sleep. Just as you say, it puts you to sleep but then you wake up at 3 a.m. and cannot sleep and feel awful. Not worth it!! xoxo newlife

Bad News: I just got me tests results back from my Liver Tests and they are really high. I haven't picked up my new prescription for Nal yet and am told by the Doctor that I cannot take Nal or drink for at least 2 weeks and will have to have another Liver Test then to see if it improves. I am sure this has been going on for a long time as last year I started to have pain in that area and had a Liver Test but it didn't show anything which this new Doctor figures I have had this for a long time. He said they are 4X's as high as they should be.
I haven't been able to have 2 AF days in a row but this has Scared me so much that I will have to just stay away from drinking and get healthy.

So I won't be Nal'ing On!

Cheeto - IF you could just stop drinking for 2 weeks, you would not need the Nal - what are they thinking ????? Seriously !

SO sorry that things are as they are !!!!

Hugs, Maggie xx

Maggie this Doctor is great and understands TSM but as he says he is not worried about the Nal effecting my liver as much as the Alcohol is. So No Alcohol then no Nal until I get my Liver back to normal at least which I agree with him.

Cheeto,

I am sorry to hear that your liver enzymes elevated, for that is very scary.

The good news is if you can abstain for those 2 week I can almost bet you your levels will go down.

When I was younger I took to much tylenol for a migraine (my first one) and I was popping them like candy...needless to say my liver enzymes where in the thousands. It took about a week or two for them to lower back to normal. Now I know what a migraine feels like, and I know not to take tylenol like candy (yes I felt like an idiot). I also learned that your liver can regenerate.

I would make sure that you are not taking anything else that can cause your liver enzyme to become elevated (like tylenol), for it may be the combination of the nal., alcohol and with that something else.

I thought in nal was fine in doses lower than 300 mg, so this has me wondering.

Jaba

sorry to hear that Cheeto, it's pretty scary. I hope you're able to get some AF days & give your liver a break. sometimes a fright like this can focus the mind & give you some extra resolve

I'm guessing the Dr. wants the liver to have as little extra to process as possible for a while to give it the chance to get back to normal

Sorry, Cheeto. That is scary. I am sure everything will be tip top after resting your liver a bit.
