I found it useful on a recent thread to post my intention to have an AF that day, so I thought I'd start a generic thread where people could do the same, if they so wish. I find it useful to make myself accountable, as an incentive, etc.

so, to kick things off, I'm aiming for an AF day today :)

Badger,

I was af Wed-Sat and Sunday when I did have that drink I wasn't happy with myself. I couldn't feel the nal. work (and I usually can with that first drink). So I think another af day might be needed (plus I drank 1/2 glass over my limit). So count me in.

UKB - sorry to hear how you felt yesterday - and really sort of scary for us so far behind - does it NEVER stop ?

Hugs to you, hang in there, Maggie x

Great job, Badger!

UKBlonde, sorry you had such a craving. After so much time, that really stinks. Does that happen often to you?

UK Blonde,

My heart goes out to you. I am proud you didn't drink. I am glad you are here to post, for I wish some of the old timers would come back to let us know how hard/easy they have it.

I have a friend that was an addict, and when I was sober he told me that 2 years is hardest for most. He called it the 2 year growing pains, like being a 2 year old child. But, I think "growing pains" can happen to anyone at any stage.

Badger,

I am glad yesterday came so easy for you! That is a great job, and planning another one today is awesome.

I failed. I had a hard time trying to go to sleep last night and I was anxious because my husband was getting up at 3am to fly out in the morning. I need to forget about drinking for sleep...that is my biggest habit I need to break. I had 8 oz. of wine, and went to bed. I still had a hard time sleeping...still tired today! So it was not worth it.

Maggie,

I am with you! I will have an AF day today! But the week just started.

Another one of my friends (I know a lot of druggies and alkies) drank a case a beer+ a day. When he got his first DUI and he went to AA and stopped cold turkey. He had a heck of a time with withdrawal and his blood pressure was so bad that he was hospitalize; however, he has been 18 years sober and it doesn't bother him. He said for the first 5 to 7 years he was tempted, but never went back, and now he can be around it, and date women who drink, and he is okay. The problem he does have is watching people that have a problem with al....he says the memories come back from when he drank and he was bad. So, I think we will be fine with years under our belt, but what we did or how we acted will still haunt us (which can help us stay in control and to take that pill).

Well is anyone else going to join Maggie, Badger and me? I would like to have another string of af days, and maybe I can find something to give me a endorphin rush (I just hope it isn't another habit to break...like shopping ).

Jaba

I know the feeling. I'm a terrible insomniac & it's really linked in to my drinking. hopefully you'll be tired enough tonight to get a decent night's sleep!
