Hello Stephanie - Welcome!

The site is interesting - it's nice to be able to read the extinction graphs clearly (the ones in Dr. Roy's book are a little fuzzy).

I'm not sure if you will pop in again, but if so, can we ask you a few brief questions about some of the studies?

Take Care,

p.s. WTE, there is info on treatment of Alcholism on the site in addition to drug addiction / eating disorders, not sure about the patent part. I also read something about commercialization of the method in the US, which I think is good...as long as that does not involve a price tag.

Stephanie, thank you so very much for this information. The graph regarding alcohol reduction intake is invaluable, as it does show that the research subjects were moderately addicted, compared to many of us here. Their average weekly intake was around 35 or so drinks. Many of us drank more than twice that much. Though most of us are seeing progress it was disheartening that we were so far behind the 'mean' graphs in Dr. Eskapa's book - but it stands to reason that the more/longer we drink, the longer we can expect the extinction process to take. At about 20 weeks in the subjects were down to less than half of their pre-Sinclair levels - but then, look at the spike that followed, and there was a plateau on top that. In fact, the subjects didn't get down to the safe level of 9 drinks per week until 300 days into the study, and it was quite a roller-coaster ride getting there - there was a sharp spike even after that point.

I also didn't previously realize that the reinforcing substance produced by our bodies and deposited in those little (opioid) receptors are equivalent to morphine. Duh! So alcoholics are actually addicted to opioids produced by our own bodies - not unlike crack heads, except we don't have to go to a dealer down the street to get the dope, we just have to drink alcohol and our body produces it for us.

This is all good news for those of us who were/are very heavy drinkers and not experiencing dramatic results as yet. For my personal purposes I figure - rightly or wrongly, but it makes sense - that since I drank twice that of the subjects (75 upw) if my AL consumption is down by even 1/4 at 20 weeks (it's better than that at the start of week 18) then I'm pretty much on course. It does seem that our moderately addicted friends on this board experience faster relief from their cravings and consumption levels.

This strengthens my conviction that we all are going to make it, sooner or later, so long as we follow the Golden Rule: Naltrexone one hour before drinking.

Onward, and downward!

Thanks for the correction Happy. I'll go back and correct it. I guess I got caught up in the patent part, which in my experience has only one purpose -commercialization.

Definition COMMERCIALIZE:

–verb (used with object), -ized, -iz⋅ing.
1. to make commercial in character, methods, or spirit.
2. to emphasize the profitable aspects of, esp. at the expense of quality: to commercialize one's artistic talent.
3. to offer for sale; make available as a commodity

While I certainly don't begrudge Dr. Sinclair or family from making monetary gain from TSM, I'm curious as to what the plans are and what the overall impact will be in the US market.

I hope they succeed wildly at commercializing the method. You gotta know that if people are making money from something, they're going to market the daylights out of it! If it gets more expensive for some. . .it will probably cost less for those who have to go to an overseas pharmacy. And just think: If there's an effective medical cure for addiction, we won't have to feel like smarms going to our doctor. We can just describe our symptoms, rather than 'admitting to a problem.' I love it!

Hi Stephanie -- Thanks so much for dropping in on us.

I found fascinating your father's earlier attempt to get the word out about the effective use of naltrexone by obtaining a patent on the protocol [readers: Eskapa at 61-62 and App. C], and the successful effort by DuPont to contravene his efforts. I'm sure he'll be successful this time in getting the word out.

For those of us who happened onto The Sinclair Method despite the efforts of the pharmas and the behemoth that is the rehab industry, we know we are blessed. We know we owe our lives to your father's work, and to the efforts of Dr. Eskapa and others to get the word out. We are commited to doing our bit to help spread the word.

Please visit us often.

Hello and thanks to everyone for your warm welcome!

I am glad you have visited our web page at www.lightlake.fi

Our company is working on bringing the drug addiction patent utilizing the Sinclair method to the market. We are also looking into treating opioidergic over-eating, which we just got a patent for in Europe. The Sinclair method for treating alcohol addiction has been a basis for our ventures, leading the way.

Talk to you soon,
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie -- I just posted an email from your Dad to Dr. Eskapa about the results our little group here is starting to get. I hope you've had a chance to read "the Official Cured List" and other encouraging stories. We are so grateful for the work of your father, and you for carrying it on.

There's been some discussion on this board about how we can get the word out about The Sinclair Method. If you have any ideas, please share them
