Took my nal and drank last night. First time in 7 days. I really watched how much I drank and really kept things in check, but today, I was sick as a dog again...just like last weekend. Honestly, when I drank everyday, I might feel a bit off in the morning, but no massively hung-over to the point I can't get out of bed! I am really wondering if it is the NAL? Perhaps by not taking it for a week and then taking a whole one (50mg.) an hour before I start drinking is creating this sick feeling. Anyone else have this experience? It is just weird!

Hiker Girl,

I will let you know in the morning. I have only been 3 days af, but my biggest fear are those nal. overs. I remember U K Blonde saying that they would come at different times and be unpredictable. I saw a video on options saves lives and a women said that she went 6 months before she drank at New Years. She never mentioned anything about a nal. over or anything. My question is how many drinks did you have? I know if I go pass 2-5 oz. of wine I will start to feel slightly buzzed and end up with a nal. over. Not as bad as 1 1/2 bottles of wine, but my head and body where not happy.

I hope you feel better,

Jaba

Hi Jaba, thanks for your reply!

I had five drinks over the course of 5 hours. I even made sure to eat in-between and drink water. That may seem like a lot for some of you out there, but that is about average for me as a daily drinker and almost no hangover the next day. Perhaps it is a combo of going without for so long (tolerance adjustment) and the Nal.

I have to say that I have REALLY enjoyed stringing along so many days of sobriety. I appreciate the fact that the Nal has helped me overcome the craving. When I am sober, everything is in order...everything! After two weekends of these awful Nal hangovers after ABS, I think God is sending me a message and I am listening!

Hiker girl,

I felt the nal. this morning but no hang over. I think when I would drink a bottle and 1/2 of wine I would have nal. overs to the point I thought I would have to go to the e.r. And that is why I dropped my intake. I know I will start to feel buzzed at three drinks and in the morning I would have a slight nal. over.

I think the nal. might be telling you what it wants your limit to be. I was a nightly drinker 2 to 2 1/2 bottles of wine, or 1 to 2 bottles of wine with a pint of grey goose, and I never got a hangover either. I only got a hangover once when I split a gallon of j.d. with a friend...I still cannot stand the smell of whiskey (except wild turkey). But I never felt anything like a nal. over, I really thought I was going to die and something was seriously wrong.

It does surprise me how much others can drink with the nal. and a not have nal. over. I have to admit sometimes I am a little jealous, but I know that isn't what this process it about.

Good luck with you af days,

Jaba

Hikergirl - 5 drinks does not sound like a lot to me - that is what I used to drink nightly! BUT when I have five these days I get a Nal-Over sometimes. And trust me - those Nal-Overs stop me drinking for a day or two!

Hugs, Maggie x

Thank you Maggie and Jaba for your replies. I have posted the Nal-over question to the forum. It is a very interesting situation and it would be great to hear others experiences. I tried to look up nal-overs in search and did not find a dedicated post.

Hiker Girl,

I was just thinking about you and how things are going for you. I do hope everything is going as planned.

Keep in mind: When you start off on Nal you ramp up the dosage slowly.

Same thing if you get to the point where you go AF. Don't go a couple weeks AF and then pop a 50mg tab. Cut it in half. Much better.
