Yeah, this is temporary.

I had the .net domain name but wasn't using it, so it was available for me to install the new forum software and a backup copy of the database. That way I could bring it up without hurting the stuff on the old site (in case something went badly). For now the .com is going to point here. After a week or so I'll move everything back over to the .com. In any case you shouldn't notice the difference - if you type in thesinclairmethod.com you'll be redirected here automagically.

I'm afraid N101CS it hasnt been smooth - i have been completely unable to get on the site since the weekend. It simply registered nothing- no redirect no message nada! I had begun to think that it was some scam site that disappeared overnight. i decided to try one more time this morning to find i could get on as normal.

soulby & drink2much - yes, the site was down until late yesterday and RVs note was about the temporary address until the whole thing was fixed today. The hoax idea never entered my mind - that's the second time I've read that this morning, how horrible to have to think think that with no one to talk to about it, wow.

FYI...many of us went over to the My Way Out forum to 'talk' there until the site was back up. If it ever happens again, please go over to that forum at http://www.mywayout.org/community/ on the "Topamax, Campral, Naltrexone, Baclofen, other meds " Forum...this is the forum we all came from originally. You may want to go check out some of the Sinclair Threads there for fun...there are some older posts from Lena and SpringerRider that are fun to read.

Take care,

I wonder if maybe we shouldn't start a Google or Yahoo group to use as an emergency meeting place if we ever have another outage...?

@soulby & drink2much: We had an outage starting on the weekend and lasting until yesterday afternoon. The new site and redirect didn't go into place until sometime around 3 P.M. yesterday. I have company in from out of town and wasn't paying attention.

If anyone knows of any services that monitor web sites for outages and/or performance w/ text message alerts, I'd love to know about them - I'm sure they exist. If it's cheap I'll put it in place.

Well RV, some of us did get together over at the My Way Out board. If you use the .com site as a mirror site, you shouldn't ever have a complete outage again - just let all members know if one site is down, the other will be up. (Of course, that would mean keeping current backups - which you are obviously good at.)

RV - there is some freeware here:

http://website-monitor.org/website-monitoring-about.php

I haven't used it but it looks similar to something I used years ago...it runs locally on a windows machine and sends an email if the URL doesn't respond in a set # of minutes. Simple but free.

I think just going over to MWO worked well this time...once we figured it out. If there is a way to send an email to everyone that would be ideal, but I suppose that's not possible if the site is down.

Actually, I can send an e-mail to everyone even if the site is down. I just have to go into the database and extract the addresses. Maybe I'll write a tool to automate that process.

LOLOL G4M - I was thinking the EXACT same thing as I read thru this stuff - I was like "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH??????" So glad there are all these technohotties (as opposed to nerds) who have created, still maintain and sustain this site. Sheesh - I am confoosed at the get-go, so therefore MUCHO appreciative of everyone who does this stuff for us!

Many thanks from here :-)))
