I really don't know anything about the consent issue. good question! from the get go she told him it was absolutely me, so it wasn't a question of not knowing who. BUT saying she doesn't know might have been enough.

it IS all water under the bridge for me, really. the decision of a teenage kid in turmoil with no support from her parents is NOT something I can judge or second guess. she's very open, he's very open, and we're all quite happy he found us. and yes, newlife, I'm taking it pretty slow despite my emotions. he seems really grounded and realistic about our relationship (hey, he's a lot like me! :) ). I don't think either one of us is scaring the other off, and hopefully we can make something good happen...

I couldn't agree with you more, Zontar, about not judging the birth mom's actions, and that it doesn't matter. Birthmothers go through so much and there is really very little in the way of resources or help or understanding for them. It just came to mind I suppose because I am a lawyer and there is no escaping unfortunately those questions popping into my mind as a result. Anyway it all sounds like totally a "best case" scenario, and could be a really wonderful thing for you. Can't wait to hear more. XOXO Newlife

a decent week. went to see a friend's band the other night, but first had cocktails at his wife's house. she made us three (which I admit I thoroughly enjoyed), then went to the show. I bought a pitcher of beer, and DIDN'T TOUCH IT ALL NIGHT! I kept filling up water pitchers and danced and drank water for 4 hours! this never would have happened before, especially when I bought the pitcher myself. granted, I was a little primed before the show, but usually that would just steamroll me into drinking more. my numbers will be up a little this week overall, but my attitude has definitely shifted. I'm more confident than ever I can control my AL intake better now. previously I'd have 6-8 beers on a sunday afternoon just out of habit. now to have 4 working around the house seems like an effort. something's up. cured? no. but better.....

I love seeing your numbers come down Zontar! Very encouraging and it's great that you were able to say no to that pitcher of beer. Nal certainly makes it easier to say no I found in my experience. :)

another week, with a little backsliding.....had the house to myself for a week, which previously would have been really ugly, drinking all kinds and all times.

instead, I still drank more, but it was WORK! I just don't enjoy an all day beer fest like I used to. so even though I consumed more, my heart wasn't in it. what a relief....

It's sounding good, zontar, and also eerily familiar - slow progress, frustrating at times but still progress. Let's not lose sight of that.

Your visit with your son is coming up Labor Day weekend, isn't it? Can you say "Life changing event"? I am excited for you.

xoxo Newlife
