Greetings Dr. Eskaba!

I have been struglling with alcoholism for more than 30 years. Intuitively I always felt there was something more physical about it that led to unhealthy behavior (any addiction). A year ago I had a neurotransmitter test done through Sanesco. It showed I was OK in serotonin; and GABA (inhibitory). I was Very low in all excitatory neuros (dopamine, epinephrine, nor-epineprhine) and VERY high in glutamate. I also had severe adrenal fatigue. (taking compounded hydrocortisone, now)

I did a lot of research with treatment centers that beleive IV amino acid precursor treatment to "balance" the neuros is the cure for alcoholism (Steve Sewell N.O.R.A. Institute; Willam Hitt: Hitt Institute; Mark Edwards: Passages Malibu). Sanesco has an oral protocol.

I tried Sanseco...didn't stop the craving. Then I worked with my Doctor's IV guy to make our own "recipe" of the IV cocktail. We found that College Pharmacy already had the proprietary mix and ratios of the amino precursors (based on the BB barrier and molecular size) and all we had to do was add the B vitamins. After several IV treatments, at considerable expense, I found some improvement in my anxiety, but not alcohol cravings.

Going "full circle" I did a test for toxic heavy metals through DoctorsData and found that I am off the charts for lead, aluminum, cadmium, nickel, and uranium. I proceeded with 14 IV treatments of EDTA and DMPS. Just submitted a second lab test to see where I am now.

My questions are:(1) What is your opinion of all these relationship? Can proclivity for addiction begin with toxic heavy metals (even from the womb?) Do toxic heavy metals lead to neurotransmitter imbalances, which in turn becomes the "set-up" for alcoholism (all addictions? NIH is close to completing a study on the efficasy of IV chelation and there is a new school of thought about heavy metals and ADHD (I have that, too).

(2) What is your opinion about Campral taken with the Sinclair method?

Thank you for your sage advice!!! List name: Chelation

Interesting article to go along with my neurotransmitter questions....particularly because alcohol affects just abut all of them...not just the dopamine and release of endorphins. Could those who don't respond the NAL have other neuro issues that need to be addressed?
