hi all, so I'm coming up on five weeks and I definitely see my relationship with Alcohol changing, less binging and the units are coming down slowly but I feel like it's more effective at certain times, I noticed over the weekends when I tend to drink almost the whole time I take a booster of 25 mg after 4 hours and I feel it seems better at blocking by Sunday which is making me think I should increase the dosage, I'm taking the standard 50mg an hour before drinking. Does anyone have any advice on taking a higher dosage? Thanks!

Kiwiguy - I am a little behind you in taking the pill but from reading a lot of the posts you are doing the right thing to take a booster pill when you are partying to hard for to long. Without seeing your numbers but going by what you said it seems that the standard dose is starting to show results so why play with it at this point? Remember it is not an instant cure it takes several months at the earliest for most people.

The issue I am having is that I get the nal by prescription and if I have to take a booster pill then I am a half short of making it to the end of the month. Unfortunately I have had to take several of the half pill boosters and now I am going to have to figure out a way to get some AF days in or buy some pills on line! I imagine you would have the same problem by boosting your dose unless you are buying online.

Reboot - Thanks! you are exactly right why am I questioning it when I am seeing results, I heard from a friend who's in AA last night and had relapsed badly, she was struggling and it was just horrible, it made me thankful that I'm taking this route and am not tormented by the cravings she is. She is an AA is the only way person so TSM isn't something she accepts sadly.

I am in the same boat I have a prescription which I've been lucky enough to get but since I have lied to the dr (told him I am abstaining) I can't really ask for more nal so I'll have to try for some AF days. I could try buying some online but it will almost certainly be stopped by customs.

I tried upping dose but didn't find much benefit apart from feeling flatter the following day.

Adding in a half dose during a long session is a good idea, but as you've found it depletes your supplies.

Another option is to start later and finish sooner. Put off the drinking as long as you can, have tea, coffee, water, don't go to the event or don't get into the drinking regime until quite late and also have an exit strategy.

Thanks UKBlonde, I agree with what you're saying and would probably apply to me also as far as upping the dose, I'm just being impatient but the fact that I can exercise more control and drink slowly even though my volume is about the same but over a longer time period tells me it's working I just need to be a bit patient and smarter in my planning surrounding how often I drink to ensure I don't run out.

Yes drinking slower means if you reduce the drinking time............well...............and it's ok to not buy the same amounts, or to even throw some away.

Shocker :o  :D

UKB is so right. WAITING as long as you can before starting really helps me. gives me a lot more perspective on the evening....
