Summerglow - I take the AB to enforce AF days! I find it hard to just have an AF day so take some AB to make sure I do. I only take 1/8 of a tab as it upsets my tummy but that 1/8 is enough to ensure I will not drink that day. Opinions are varied here as to if it is a good idea or not but for me, it is more or less the only way that I KNOW I will have an AF day - I took some yesterday and plan on taking it again today. Jackson said about this being a journey - and for me (and it seems for you and Snap too), the journey is long - so I am doing whatever I can to help lessen the intake ! Once I have taken it the decision is taken out of my hands as to whether or not to drink. And I am fine those days - hardly even think about AL ! I do not know if it is good or not to do it this way but for me it helps - others disagree.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM or e-mails me.....

Hugs, Maggie x

Thanks Maggie, I have PM' d you.

I thought once antabuse was in your system you had to wait 4 days before drinking again?

Pasos de bebe, Maggie (baby steps). ANY step in the direction of drinking less, leads to drinking less. It builds on itself.

Just checking in to see how everyone's doing. Nothing much to report my end, except I'm still drinking too much. Managed a couple of AF days but I think I need to take some drastic action.

I joined a new gym last week and have been attending body pump and circuit training most days and love getting fit - but stupidly come home glowing and then drink a bottle of wine!!

For two reasons I've decided that I'm going to attempt a DRY JULY! prior to TSM I attempted giving up AL and managed a few months - it was a struggle because of the cravings. I have a feeling that if I try again the struggle won't be so bad - I don't have the same level of craving as I used to and I know that stupidly I am drinking out of habit. One thing I have noticed with TSM - although Nal seems to have reduced my craving for alcohol, the problem that I have is once I drink one glass of wine I simply can't stop myself finishing the lot.

The second reason is the cost of Selincro - whilst I'm drinking almost every day it's costing me a fortune - £4 a tablet! I can't afford to maintain TSM at this level, so I need to reduce my drinking.

I'm going to attempt 30 days without alcohol and then see if having had this long length of AF time whether I can reprogramme myself to drink socially with TSM. I know that today is still June but this is my first AF day as I have a long drive tonight to collect my daughter's new car.

Wish me luck!

Good for you Snap - I am half inclined to try it with you but do not think I can do it. I am hard pressed to go more then three days AF.... I had 2 AF then drank yesterday - and what gets me is that I am drinking 4 or 5 each session - anyway have taken an AB already this morning so will be AF today ! Good luck on your month - please post and let us know how you are doing.

Hugs, Maggie x

Wow Snap, good for you doing 30 days. I am like Maggie where I can pretty much only get 2 days AF and then my cravings are too great and I cave on the 3rd day. I am totally going to go for an AF day today as I have so much to do with my move today and then have to get up early and get to my Lawyers office and I don't want to be hungover for that.

I know what you mean about exercising and then feeling so good that you need to reward yourself with a bottle of wine and yes the whole darn bottle. I actually haven't exercised for weeks since I have been too tired most days to do anything after packing other than plopping on the couch and drinking, ughh!

I don't know if you can order Naltrexone from Alldaychemist https://www.alldaychemist.com/customer/account/login/
but I find it is a lot less expensive than if I got a prescription here in Canada.
Wishing you luck...
Nal On!
