I am off to all places Russia. Having been there before I know the border guards are fairly tough bunch and I am worried about carrying my Nal with me. I know there is a problem in some places in the middle east but does anyone know what Russia is like? I have a covering letter from my G.P but to be honest I am in a group trip and don't really want the embarrassment full stop.

You need to find out whether nal is considered a controlled substance in the country you are visiting.

Lots of people on the internet will tell you "I was ok with it in my luggage".

Sure they were people who were not randomly searched - and it can happen to anyone at any time BUT is very rare to be stopped.

I'd Google something like 'medication + the country visited', or have a look around their immigration/embassy website.

I've travelled through a country which has nal on their 'controlled' list, sure I wasn't stopped because I simple wasn't asked for a random search, but that doesn't mean it was 'ok'. As a precaution I travelled with a Drs letter plus original prescription and labelled box.
