Thanks for the laugh you guys. Well last night I went out with friends, and my family. Overdid it, hungover today, mad at myself, AND wondering what I did and said. I am soooooo tired of this. It's not good for my kids, my marriage, or of course for me. I NEED THIS TO WORK!!! Losing patience. ugh. Newlife

LOL - how true !!

Newlife - do not lose patience ! I am on day 3 AF (with the AB of course) and am feeling much better - even with all that is going on with me I feel a twinge of happy coming back! Just keep going - try and have some AF days - so sorry about last night - it probably wasn't as bad as you thought it was! Drink lots of water and try and take it easy today - hang in there,

hugs, Maggie x

As that has happened to me on my Nal journey, itry to think of where exactly I went wrong. Did I order cocktails when I could have opted for a lower alcohol beer? Was I mindless drinking, just having one after the other? Was I trying to escape a situation I didn't want to be in?

I find if I can at least come up with some firm reasons for drinking too much, it gives me a feeling of control and something to consider concentrating on for next time.

holy heck, newlife! been thinking about you all day because I blew it last night big time too! went to a party at my boss's house. didn't drink before, had two beers, then started in on some pre-made vodka/grapefruit thing (OK, huge glass which I figured would do me for the night). I have no idea what happened but I went from totally functional to not remembering ANYTHING in one drink. I hadn't eaten lunch, I think AL content was way higher than I thought (I'm mostly a beer/wine guy). my wife got me out of there and explained I was on a new medication (Nal), but I woke up with a bloody knee, TERRIBLE hangover (worst in years), and plenty of remorse. luckily my wife knew I wasn't just being stupid, and my boss is a good friend who totally understands. and the few people there at the time are cool. but man, it sucked!

lesson learned: don't drink ANYTHING you've never drank before. OK, like most fools I've said that before, but this time with the support I have here, and my perspective with Nal, I mean it. my boss even texted that I was drinking way slower than her and she knows I have a high tolerance.

anyhow, I cracked up that while telling you to move on I was hours away from being in the same situation! Nal on, and yeah, hugs! zontar

Wow, Zontar, sorry about that one!! Doesn't sound like it was your fault though, and I am glad that you have a supportive wife and boss. But I REALLY hope you are feeling better today.

As for me, yesterday I drank very moderately (took my husband and family out for Fathers' Day), but I still don't feel great today. I think both the nal and my liver are telling me that I need a break.

Here's to better times ahead for both of you. Hugs again, Newlife

End of Week 15. I didn't track this week, but I can tell that things were pretty much the same for me, no AFs, consumption not too much different than pre nal. Bad night Saturday night, two huge martinis and too much wine, can't remember what happened, yadayadayada.

I am pretty much like brittanylouis. I am not depressed or despondent, I am just wondering if this is making any difference. I am going to keep on taking the nal, but it is hard to keep the faith sometimes even though I very much want to. I know that others have taken a lot longer than me, etc. So I will stay the course because right now I have no alternative.

I buy my nal from all day chemist. Sometimes I wonder if I should just stop being such a baby and go ask my doctor for a prescription so that I can be SURE that what I am taking is the real stuff. She is a great doctor in every other respect, but when it comes to alcohol she is extremely judgmental. She told my husband, who barely drinks, that he should stop altogether because he is being a bad role model for our children. She hasn't said that outright to me, she has just mentioned vaguely that "if you are doing wine every night, you need to stop that." If only it were that easy!!

Sorry for the rant and lack of supportive words. I am leaving for a two day trip today (5 hours in the car). For once, I am not taking wine with me. Now that doesn't mean there aren't liquor stores and bars/restaurants where I am going, but still it is a change in behavior. I also purposefully did not buy any Chardonnay this week, and I think I am out. Perhaps subtle behavior changes.

Take care everyone, and thanks for reading and caring. xoxo Newlife

Hi Newlife, I also have been ordering from Alldaychemist and now you have me worried that we are not getting the real thing? Did you hear anything about the Nal or quality? I have just trusted we are getting the real Naltrexone.

My Doc will not give me any more Nal and actually it is less expensive to order through Alldaychemist than get a prescription here in Canada as they do not cover it with my extended medical.

Hang in there and check out this thread on Cure/Regained Control Time Frames as it does take much longer for a lot of us than the book says: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2442

I'm having an AF day today cause I have been drinking way too much this past week, 43 Drinks!

Nal On!
