So I started my first dose on Saturday at .50
Felt really sick and only had one glass of wine.

N/A on Sunday. Yesterday took .25 and had not even a glass
of wine mixed with spritzer.

I am a binge drinker but also will drink a few hear and there
in between.

Is it normal ok to just cut back?

My instinct is to do what feels right for me.
But because this is all so new a little advice would be great.

Thx everyone.

Do you mean just cut back on the Naltrexone? If you are feeling sick, I would recommend taking whatever dose you can manage (lots of people start with 12.5, move to 25 and then 50 over time) and move up as you tolerance increases (maybe try a week at each and then go back to the lower dose for an extra week if you find you are getting too nauseous). If you quit taking it because you are too sick then you are no further ahead so if you have to increase slowly, so be it. If you find you are at 25 and it is working, then no need to increase. If you find you aren't having progress, you may want to consider increasing.

What I can tell you is that when I started, 50 mg made by very nauseous so I added slowly. I now take 75 mg (long story but I have absorbtion issues so needed a little more to block the endorphins) and am not nauseous really at all. And it is working and I am getting better. I know it can be frustrating when all you want to do is jump to the dose that will get you the most results but as long as you get there, that is the important part. No point in torturing yourself any more than you have to....this is hard enough already, if you ask me.

:)

I agree. It can take some people weeks to get themselves up to the 50mg mark without feeling sick. Remember, feeling ill on Nal isn't the point of the medication (like it is with Antabuse).

Doing what feels natural is definitely what you should aim for while on Nal. Don't force yourself to drink to try to speed up the process. Drink as you feel like it (being mindful that you do feel like it and are not just drinking out of habit/momentum).

Hello Jephener and jackson_pdx,

Thank you very much for the advice. Good to know about the Nal. amounts.
I want to make sure I can handle taking it so that it's always with me.

So far the .25 was so so much better than the .50.

I don't have the same kind of cravings for alcohol at the moment, happy
with that.

Appreciate the support. xo
