Wow, I'm not surprised you feel so down, it sounds like sheer hell.

Maybe Maggies strategy might help to start break the habit for you?It sounds like when you drink you are drinking to try find something.

Thanks everyone. Well I had an AF day on Wednesday! Yay. I did use Maggie's strategy and took 1/4 AB. I will definitely do this again to force more AF days.

I went to a friends wedding reception last night (very low key event, just a few drinks). Almost everyone there were her friends from the gym - OMG I wouldn't like to meet any of those women in a dark alley - the muscles on them! Anyway, I was chatting to a few of them and they've persuaded me to join their Body Pump classes followed by Yoga. They do it Monday and Wednesday nights from 7pm to 9pm. I thought that if I joined this it would be a good excuse to have two AF days a week at least. I'm planning to sign up - not sure if it's on on next Monday as it's a Bank Holiday here in the UK.

Just checking in again. Not much to report really, but I have now put together a bit of a plan. First, I stopped tracking my drinking a few months ago - it just seemed time consuming but I realise that not tracking them is drinking mindlessly and unaccountably, so I'm starting a drink diary again. Second, I am going to seriously start forcing AF days and also set a drink limit on the days that I do drink. I am going to try capping it two two glasses of wine and not allow myself more.

My son has just finished Uni and can't drive yet. He has started a job located 15 miles away from us and has to be at work at 7am every morning so I am having to drive him there. Everyone says to me that I must be mad doing it - but actually this is a godsend. I can't drink myself to oblivion at night any more as I would be over the limit to drive in the morning. This is my new tool!

I have been reading through lots of different 'weekly progresses' and it seems that those who achieve success with TSM have put in a little extra work - so I'm taking that on board.

Hubby and I are off to Paris for the weekend - really looking forward to it and hopefully I will be able to enjoy just a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and not be tempted to have more. Nal on!

Sounds like a great plan. Just remember that they are goals and it's no huge deal if you fall short. It's not a pass/fail sort of thing, but a journey.

SO envious! The only really bad part of living on the American West coast is that Paris is a lot of money and at least a day away!

Have a lovely time Snap - what a treat for you to get to Paris for the weekend !

I also liked what Jackson said about it not being a pass/fail thing but a journey! Wise words !!

I do think it is important to track your intake - it shows us h we are doing and can motivate us either way so yes please, do start doing it again.

Hugs, Maggie x

Snap dragon

I have been following you, and in a nutshell I am having similar problems, although usually try to stop at one bottle of wine a day.

I am interested in this combination of Antabuse and NAL. Please could you enlighten me?

I too am in the UK, I go to the gym and volunteer, but my habit is so difficult to break.

NAL is working for me slowly. For example I can now leave wine in the bottle and not guzzle the lot, and I am not going on "benders" for days on end.

I feel like I am drinking like almost a normal person, but it's just this enforcing alcohol free days. I live alone so have no one to account to but myself!!

So please could you let me know about the combination of Antabuse and NAL?

Thanks in anticipation.

Summerglow
