Now that I'm up and around and posting, I've fired off a couple of long ones and they never made it to the board. If there's been an intervening post and you don't hit the proper button, poof. At least once I heard that click after leaving a drafted post sit for a couple of minutes -- post disappeared. A few of you have reported problems with that.

If you compose your post here directly here, it cannot be retrieved once gone.

From now on, if I plan to post more than ne sentence, I will compose it in my word processing software and paste it here. The post will be safe and I'll have a lovely archive for posterity. As Martha Stewart would say, you should do the same.

I think you're a mod here?

AFAIK, the issue is related to the log-in duration setting in the cookies for the site - there should be a section in the admin area that you (or N101CS) can access to lengthen this - it'll stop posts disappearing. Depending on what browser you are using, you may be able to retrieve the post through your browser back button also.

If I make a long post on a bulletin board, I usually copy the content before submitting just in case - learned the hard way ;)

Yeah, the log in duration is pretty long and I've selected the "keep me logged in" option so it shouldn't be an issue. And yet . . . . Better safe than sorry to compose in your word processor then paste.
