I just started on 3/24 with the 25 mg dose and feel some side effects (some insomnia and slight nausea but not horrible). I am a little nervous about taking my first full dose today and how it will effect me. Pre-TSM I was averaging about a bottle of wine a night. CHEERS!

Welcome Omshiva - I too had nausea initially but as long as I took the Nal on a full tummy, it was fine. Now I do not think it matters although I always still make sure that I do have food in my tummy before taking it. Did you read the book? I found it really helpful in explaining the whys and wherefores of Nal .....

Good luck, Hugs, Maggie x

Thanks Maggie and Newlife! And yes, I did read the book and last night I watched the movie. Did you two feel a little spacey/detached at first too?

Anyway, tonight I took my pill and I have to say that any real craving wasn't there before I drank. I had two glasses of wine and still have that nice warm relaxed feeling but I also feel ok stopping at 2 drinks. Thanks for your support!

I didn't feel spacy although I have heard that can happen initially but does go away - Nal seems to be pretty good with not having too many SE's.

hugs, Maggie x

Day 4: 2 drinks today... The beer I ordered tasted just as delicious as it always have (who says alcoholis don't really enjoy drinking and the taste....I do) but feeling just slightly less compulsive about it, and slightly nauseous; feeling slightly less social because my buzz was slightly less from the beer....

Walking away from tonight I worry that I won't enjoy group socializing as much as when I am inebriated... takes much more effort sober and feels slightly awkward :-(

That's all, thanks!

Omshiva - I cannot remember who posted it but I remember reading something that was about someone going out and as they were not getting drunk, watched the others and found it entertaining - they said that the others were getting loud and obnoxious basically - and it would have been that person too had they not been on Nal and so their drinking had gone down, who would have thought they were being funny/whatever ! I know I have totally changed what was said - but I cannot remember it - I just know that it amused me and made me think about when we go out and are the ones drinking ....so do not worry about enjoying group socializing !!

hugs, Maggie x

[color=#400040][color=#000080]Thanks Maggie!

Last night I had my first AF day! The night before I had had 4 drinks and felt exhausted all day and mildly depressed. The Nal hangover and side effects really motivated to skip a day, and so today I feel WONDERFUL. I have had 16 drinks total this week, not including tonight. This is less than half of what I have been drinking, so I feel pretty good about it! Feeling hopeful today! And really identifying my short term goal of not drinking everyday so I don't have to have the yucky Nal in my system.
