its Monday, so its write on my thread day

The week actually started up well, a couple of af days, as I said my wife is away so I usually look to that as an open wine all to myself thing, and so I did, I guess if I was reflecting back I still drunk less than I would have before, so I never opened a second.

Later in the week I had a load of mates come down to visit and we went off to watch the rugby, with free food and a free bar, it was never going to be a light day, so all in all this week has been heavy, but I think less than maybe it would have been before.

I have done two things in addition, I have started to take 75mg, just to see if it makes a difference, ill try for a couple of weeks. I am also recording in US units now, it was too hard to work out where other people were at when I didn't understand their units

Pre TSM 30-45 un/wk 1af/wk us units
0 43/0 no nal 6 39/0 12 46/0 18 32/2
1 40/0 7 37/0 13 34/1 19 26/2
2 29/2 8 34/0 14 35/0 20 32/2

4 35/2 10 25/3 16 25/2

At least you are getting some AF days Nigel .... I will be interested to see how taking the 75 goes for you .... yesterday I took my Nal at 11.00, had 3.5 drinks between 11 and 4 then felt awful - had a 40 min nap and around 7.00 had two more - I was wondering if I had taken another Nal when I woke from my nap or if I had taken the 75 I would not have had the extra two drinks .... I have a LOT going on right now so am really stressed and do not think usually I would have had those two extra drinks .... so wonder if extra Nal might help.

Your units are less than they were which is good - the Nal is doing something - it is just hard for us to do the waiting I think !

Hugs, Maggie x

hello Maggie,

from what I understand 50mg might not be enough for some (I kid myself my HUGE brain might need more!!) but if it is then it might need topping up 12 hours later at the earliest.

I read a very interesting thread on a addiction forum about how long Nal blocks opiate receptors if you wanted to take stuff to get high and the general feeling was you were wasting a 'hit' if you took it much before 24 hours

hi Nigel,

it looks to me like you're making progress - your 'heavy' week just gone is barely at the bottom end of your pre-Nal normal consumption. plus you're getting a few AF days

since you've given 50mg a chance for 20 weeks, I think 75mg is probably worth a try. if you read back in the forum, higher dosages seem to go in and out of vogue, but a fair few people do report turning a corner at a higher dosage. 75mg is still way under any danger level, & as you say, you've got that massive brain full of dopamine receptors to fill up ;)

all the best

I married a lady with a PhD so I have to plead no contest on having the bigger brain...........

Nigelr from the sounds of it your drinking is in better control. I think how you respond to situations which could turn into a blowout are significant, as are AF days.

Its the same as last week, 1 unit less! same 2 af days. I haven't got singing twice this week, so will attempt an af night off at home.. we shall see.

No change at all, no different feelings, 75mg hasn't made a massive difference but Ill give it a couple more weeks before dropping back down.

nowt more to report, I am going to edit my signature to make it more squashed!

hi nigel,

keep plugging away - you've seen the cure-times thread that I posted on Cheeto's progress thread a while back. you still have a few months to go til the 7-8 month *average* cure, so there's still a very good chance that TSM will work for you

all the best

ok so I feel a little happier, I did a bit of data entry and got a nice little bar chart which actually shows my units decreasing slowly but surely.

Its REALLY hard to feel such a change but it seems thats its happening
