Hello...I recently received the book and have started to read it. I look forward to starting. If my assumptions are correct, I should be logging my daily units before beginning. I have some embarrassment about asking my doctor for Nal. I'm hoping to start soon.

I recently became disabled (about a year ago), and my drinking, while bad before, has really escalated due to disability. Without work to motivate me, I am at 10-14 units a night. I never start before 5 pm, but realize that this level of drinking is probably killing me.

While I didn't know my biological father, I do know he, like me, was a "beer only" alcoholic. He died of liver cancer at a relatively young age. My mother (a wonderful woman) heat her vodka addiction 20 years ago using the rehab/abstinence method. It worked for her, but I know it doesn't work for me. Given this genetic inclination to drinking, as well as knowing that my biological father died from drinking beer really has me motivated to get this under control.

I will be on and off the site for awhile until I can get on the Nal. Any advice before I start would be welcomed.

Read the book thoroughly, and spend some time on here looking over the forum. There is a lot to be gained just from that.

Good Luck

If you Doctor doesn't want to cooperate don't give up. A lot of people order Naltima (generic naltrexone) directly from alldaychemist or River. Some do that because they don't want the hassle of fighting with thier physycian, and other for insurance reasons. I did it in part simply to avoid the hassle. Naltrexone is a relatively safe drug but like Guapo says you should read up on this before you make a decision.

Well, here it is 5 pm. After 14 units last night, I really thought today would be AF. But I just cracked a beer. I really need this cure. Has anyone used a reputable online pharmacy, so I can avoid the embarrasment of talking to my doctor? Cost is not a major factor, as I'm pretty sure my insurance wouldn't cover it anyway. I already get liver tests for other meds I'm on (Crestor, etc), so I know my liver function is ok (for now anyway. Without this cure, I think that the liver is going to be what kills me)

My Doctor would only give me 3 months of Nal on the premise that I did not drink with it. She is old school and would not condone or want to understand TSM. I then ordered another 4 months supply from AllDayChemist so I could make sure I had enough for months and months. It actually cost me more for 3 months in Canada than going through AllDayChemist. The only thing for me is that I have to have it delivered to the US as they do not deliver to Canada but I have a friend there so that works for me. Hope this helps and welcome!
Nal On!

Are you in the USA?

You can order Naltima (generic naltrexone) from AllDayChemist. They're in India which may sound scary at first, but read up on the industry and you'll learn that a lot of the generics sold worldwide are manufactured in India and China. US Customs doesn't bother with small orders for personal use, all they seem to care about are drugs that can be abused (naltrexone is in fact the opposite). You can start with an order of 120 tablets at a cost of $228.62 and repeated the order a month later. That will give you a minimum 8 month supply for less than $500.00

AllDayChemist is easy to work with, and delivery takes 2-3 weeks.

Hope this helps.

AllDayChemist has a great reputation. If for any reason you want other choices, River Pharmacy and Gold Pharma have also served end users well.

Hi there and welcome to the club ! I did get my Nal from my doc but a friend of mine got hers from River Pharmacy - it is not cheap but I do think it is worth a try! As the others have said - read the book - have you read it yet? I had heard of Nal but never thought it any good as folks that I knew who had been on it had had no luck with it - but after reading the book and following the very definite instructions, I am giving it a try and having some sort of results although it has only been a month for me !

Where are you located ? I think that might make a difference as to where you get your Nal ....

Keep us posted - I am so excited about this and do finally see light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a train coming !!!

hugs, Maggie xx
