Nigelr I am in the same boat as you, feeling down about the method at the moment as I am drinking way too much each day too. I have NEVER gone against the GR and always waited the hour which especially here in Mexico it is very hard to do.
The post badger1 shared on your thread has given me a little more hope so hope it helps you too. Guess we need to be patient like the others that took much longer than some we are reading about that seem to have results in days or weeks. As I have said I am very happy for them but deep down am so dam jealous. Nal + Drinking + PATIENCE = CURE!! (is so right!).
Hang in there and we can support each other through this.
Nal On!

The reason some folk go after AF days is to break the habit side of things, this is very plausible and works in parallel with TSM changing the brains pathways. However, if I've understood the science behind TSM then the longer we have been heavy drinkers the bigger the short cut pathways or super highways have become. Hence the longer we need to take nal for.

I think you're right here. I know in my case that I have to get used to get used to the idea of doing things/living differently.

Some of us have been training out reptile brains for too long.

Hang in there Nigel, I agree with you that I found that link very helpful and it looks like it can take at least 6 months or more for some people to be cured/regain control. I think the hardest part is riding the waves and trying to keep encouraging yourself to stay the course. :)

not too much to report, 2 af days as I went out, each very easy to do.

Had a social long weekend, pub on Thursday, wine tasting Friday, valentines day Saturday and then last night evening at home by myself where I drunk the most (cos I enjoy it!)

Weirdly the wine isn't tasting so nice, it could be cos its not such good wine but I wasn't enjoying it like normal.. who knows. So total for week is 58 units which with 2 af days is still chucking it down my neck. Still sticking with GR and gonna continue

Pre TSM 30-45 un/wk 1af/wk us units
0 43/0 no nal 6 39/0 12 46/0 18 32/2
1 40/0 7 37/0 13 34/1
2 29/2 8 34/0 14 35/0
3 44/1 9 39/0 15 31/2
4 35/2 10 25/3 16 25/2
5 31/3 11 42/0 17 40/0

Nigel - if you do a graph, you will see that you are actually moving downwards - yes, slowly, but you are ! Plus your attitude is changing and the AF days are easier for you - that would not have happened pre Nal! I just know it will happen soon for you - just keep plodding on - we CAN all do this !!

hugs, Maggie xx

an average sort of a week. 47 units

Had 2 af days as I was out singing, these were actually harder for some reason than normal and I think its due to the horrible weather and the call of staying in with fire and wine.

Down points... I over did it on 2 nights

Up points... and I don't want to read too much into this, BUT two of the nights that I drank I was out having meals with friends, both were early suppers and so I got back home early and sober enough that I would have normally opened a bottle and drunk it.. I didn't, and on one of the occasions I drove and so drunk very little. Also and again not thinking about it too much, I am slowly not liking the taste of too much wine, I find myself forcing a mouthful. Beer is similarly tasteless and I went for a long walk over the weekend ending in a pub where I would normally sink 3 pints, I managed one only.

My wife is away this next week, which normally means I drink freely... we shall see

sounds like you're making progress Nigel. I know what you mean about opening a bottle after being out, well done :)

Glad you are getting a few AF days a week as I can only seem to get 1 if that. Sounds like TSM is working for you so just gotta keep the faith and let the science work.
Nal On!

I think you are doing really well Nigel - one thing I have found is that if I do have a drink out (and that is rare), then by the time I get home, I do not want to start again ... it is as if the time lag between drinks out and getting home is enough for the Nal to do it's thing ... whereas when I drink at home, I do not give it enough time between drinks.
Hugs, Maggie x
