Hi again

It really is not a good idea to stop taking the Nalmefene if you still intend to drink there's a thing called reinforcement which isn't great either.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinforcement

As far as the side effects go, mostly just a few days but there are exceptions I'm afraid.

I know it's easy for me to say but the results are worth sticking it out. I do remember how bad the flu like symptoms were but they will pass.

Lastly it also sounds that you're suffering a nal- over which is a hang over but far worse, so it may be you continue with Nal but just try to reduce the number of drinks until the side effects lessen.

Ok thanks for the advice TT2014. I'll take it again tonight and see how I get on. I don't feel like a drink anyway because I feel so sick.

Hi everyone - and no probs about hijacking!!

Sorry I haven't been on here for a few days. Princess - I had quite horrible side affects from Selincro for a few weeks. Now I barely notice after I've taken it, so hang in there it does get better.

Well - my Awards dinner went well. Again, I didn't drink too much. My biggest problem is at home. I can't seem to get a grip and stop myself from downing almost two bottles of wine most nights. I've been reading your thread Cheeto and feel the same feelings of despair - but as everyone points out, I suppose it is early days. I've stopped tracking my drinks (don't know how important that is?) but I think I'm drinking at least as much as pre-TSM at home and don't seem capable of any AF days :(

I have noticed a considerable reduction in my drinking when out socialising - I just need to get my head around why that is and try to implement it at home.

NAL on !

Hi Snap, Did you see the link that badger put on my weekly progress thread: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2442
This was very encouraging for me and I think would be great if it was at the top of the Posts to show people when they are down on their time frames.
Glad you are tapering down when you are out, I'm still drinking way too much when going out hence blackouts, hangovers, etc YUCK!

Well - three months tomorrow I began TSM - so that's about 12 weeks in.

I have stopped logging how many drinks I have - I'm not sure if that's a mistake, but I personally feel that I am drinking back at pre-TSM levels. I don't actually have massive cravings to drink like I used to, but once I start I still can't seem to stop. However, this is purely at home.

On a positive note I feel more in control of my drinking when out at social events.

I keep up the ritual 1 pill + 1 hour and will continue to do so. I feel heartened to read that many people don't respond to TSM until after 20 weeks so I still feel hopeful.

Hey snap

I'm pleased you are still persevering, it took me almost 6 months to get to what I call cure point, the point at which I wasn't driven by alcohol. I did have occasional bursts of heavier drinking and so I am hoping this where you are at.

Fingers crossed for you,

UKB

Hi Snap, think we are kind of in the same boat not logging our drinks as we are drinking pretty much the same as Pre-Nal. I figure I will note when I have AF days or when I drink less but of course that hasn't happened for me lately. I still have my usual cravings at 5PM or so and I have to watch myself when out as I do drink more and don't want to act like an idiot!
Will just have to Nal On, keep the faith!

The one thing I want to add here, is even when it doesn't seem to be working, taking that one pill isn't going to do any harm, and it might, it might just work - which is a very good reason to carry on taking it.
