Not keeping track of my units. However, I have noticed progress, and this weekend has been remarkable. Normally I drink a lot during the weekend, but this weekend I found that I was drinking mostly water because I just didn't want wine. I would go to pour myself a glass of wine, and then think "ugh...what I really want is a glass of water". So I'd pour myself a glass of water instead.

Very happy about this.

Just a fellow scientist checking in here to give you encouragement. During my grad school years, I was pretty out of control. Soon after I started my post-doc, I got fed up and found nal. My life, my marriage, and my science are all 5x better than they used to be.

I continue to take my Nal and continue to notice progress.

I've reached the stage where I no longer miss that "buzz", and I don't really even remember what it felt like. I'm drinking about half of what I used to (maybe less), and even then, it is mostly out of habit. Up until now I've not applied any will-power to the process (except for the minimal will-power it takes to remember to take my Nal) and I've almost reached my goal level of moderation.

It is really nice to wake up in the morning and remember going to bed. To sleep thru the night rather than wake up queasy at 3 am. To make plans for retirement without the uneasy feeling that I might die of the long-term effects of alcohol just as I reach retirement age. To see my list of "things to do around the house when I get a chance" get whittled down because I'm actually alert and productive when I'm at home.

really pleased for you SRS, sounds like you're doing great. the retirement thing resonates with me, I was feeling the same way until I got a few months into Nal, but now I'm starting to feel like I might get a chance to spend what I've been squirreling away :)

all the best
