That may be the alcohol. Many people find that its sedative aspects are more noticeable when the euphoric side is blocked. Whether it's the nal or the al, though, you'll probably adjust.

I tend to emotional drink when depressed. I drink faster and with more determination to drink more. Should I up the dose to 75mg in these cases?

with Nal, more is not necessarily better. either the opiod receptors are saturated or not, there's no benefit in taking 75mg if 50mg is achieving saturation. for the vast majority of people, 50mg is sufficient

I was reading about the Sinclair method on Wikipedia
I wonder if I can ask my Dr for a blood test to see if I have G polymorphism of SNP Rs1799971 in the gene OPRM1) which naltrexone works better if you have that gene. Interesting stuff

Sure, just ask for the G polymorphism of SNP Rs1799971 in the gene OPRM1 test.

If you have that gene and you're male, it's an important predictor. The "male" qualifier is an important one too often left off. In women, that allele is a null-op.

My impression is that you're a guy, and either way you might be curious about the markers, so sure -- you could get yourself tested. You don't need a doc for that. My whole family of three had ours done on 23andme.com.

Is the cost $200 on 23andme.com?
Is it a common genetic test?

My big court day on Jan 15th, really scared, but I wish it was tomorrow, I want this over with, Ive been under the thumb of the law since dec 22nd 2013. thats a long time!

Yes, it is. Do you want to talk about it? Many of us here can empathize with alcohol-related arrests.[/quote]

My court was yesterday. The Officer lied under Oath, and it makes me have even less respect for Authority figures. Of course, I need to constructively deal with that emotion by talking/typing about it, and not acting out. I never had a problem with acting out, until this last run in with the police well and the time before that. But maybe it relates to me being bullied as a child, and the alcohol just gave me courage ( at the wrong time). It is difficult to disprove an Officer when the Judge usually sides with the Police. On another note, the matter was not resolved, they ran out of time in court, and therefore it is adjourned again until March. I've been waiting since April for a verdict, and March will make it almost a full year, of being on Bail, including conditions not to consume alcohol, however when I was white knucklin it, I went to AA, and then relased, in those relapses I am at high risk when not on Naltrexone for getting caught drinking and driving, or in some sort of confrontation with the police. So now I am not going to AA, and I am taking nal when I drink , and it seems my risk of falling into a bad relapse is nonexistant.
