I got this off of the C Three Europe Website which is very informative regarding your drink of choice:

Types Of Drinkers and Their Drinks Of Choice

I have been reading of many conclusions that TSM works best or quickest on a set type of drinker profile, or the length of time that they have been drinking, or whether they are liquor or beer or wine drinkers.

Are there any truth to these suggestions?

Dr E: No, none whatsoever. What matters is litres of Ethanol per year, units per session or per week, and finally loss of control over drinking even it is it three beers a night.

I had a clinical supervisor who had a plague on the wall that said ‘If you drink beer, you drink’. Ethanol is Ethanol.

There is a lot of information on the Website including TSM Myth Busting with Dr Roy Eskapa:

you'd think a Dr would know better than to have a plague on his wall ;)

Week 8 completed and on to Week 9 with my numbers up this last week to 36 Drinks with 1 forced AF day cause I knew my numbers were higher and have been feeling pretty much hungover everyday.
I don't have any side effects now from Nal other than Nal+Drinking makes me tired and I have been either falling asleep on the couch or going to bed really early only to wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake until like 6AM then I go back to sleep and sleep until 10-11AM which I don't like to do. The other night I went to bed early and woke up in the middle of the night so to get back to sleep I drank another couple glasses of wine which I have not done for quite awhile and hate to get into that habit.
I have no aversion to drinking on Nal which I see many people on this board do. I am not sure if alcohol is tasting different as I have bought some different wine which maybe is just not good.I went over to my parents the other night and drank quite a bit of the home made wine which I don't know why I even drank cause that wine always has had a bad taste to it in my opinion but I drank it anyway? My cravings are not down as I said I forced an AF day yesterday and that was quite a struggle.
I am just hoping by some miracle that the Nal kicks in more when I am in Mexico to help me keep my drinking down but realistically know it can take many more months, crap!
I just don't want to be drunk when I go out and feel sick and tired when I am there like I do every year I go.
So that's my update and I will just keep with "The Golden Rule".....
Nal On!!!!

Sounds like you're following the golden rule, but no real change as of yet.

Hey cheeto

IMHO you're doing just fine, the most important thing is you are determined in following the golden rule, everything else may help but the real work is happening way down there in the subconscious. You're wish for a great trip to Mexico is the same one I have about the Christmas holidays, I know I could have a much better time without too much alcohol but that's my problem!!! if I could stop using willpower etc etc, I wouldn't need pharmaceutical extinction.

Stay the course as plantprO would say " you're closer than you know"

Good Speed

John

hi Cheeto,

there seem to be a few of us plodding along, not really seeing our numbers dropping, but staying compliant. when I first came onto this forum I saw lots of threads where people were virtually "cured" after a few days' worth of Nal, so I was rather discouraged after a couple of weeks not to have had the same result.

over the weekend I trawled back through a load of old progress threads - & read the TCFA book - & came to the conclusion that the fast responders were just that - fast responders - & that for many/most people it's going to take a good few months.

I know that I'm a few weeks behind you, but I know I'm drinking a fair bit less than I was previously, even if it's nowhere near a "moderate" amount. I'm feeling much better generally just from knowing that I'm doing *something* positive about my drinking - a lot of the hopelessness & guilt/shame around drinking has lifted as I know it's part of the cure. I've also had quite a few days of properly "moderate" drinking - a couple of beers or a couple of smallish glasses of wine - & been happy with that. I think the pressure to be AF/drink moderately has been lifted &, perversely, it's easier to do this without trying

stay the course! :)

My thoughts on the "choice of drinks" question....

It may be true that beer drinkers have success with TSM more quickly than wine drinkers, but that doesn't mean that switching from wine to beer will make TSM work better for you. Sure, you might extinquish the desire for beer, but if what you really crave is wine, you haven't made much progress. It is necessary to drink (with Nal) in all the ways and places that we normally drink, in order to extinquish the specific opioid responses that we have individually developed. Changing our habits is not a shortcut.

Yes I agree someRandomScientist as I am sticking with wine now that I have read it doesn't matter what DOC.

Badger I was also reading Sideeffects thread who took 2 Nal and has not drank in a year, really! I am so very happy and of course jealous of this person but how can 2 pills cure someone, were they really an alcoholic? Well looks like we will just have to stay the course for maybe a year to see any changes????

Thanks plantpr0 that is exactly what I am going to do. I even have my little pill keychain that will go with me everywhere with at least 3 pills in it.

Thistime wouldn't it be great if we could see inside our brains of how the Nal and TSM is working in there?

Guapo no changes as of yet but Thank God for TSM is all I can say!

Thank You everyone for your comments and support, it is so good to have this Forum to go through TSM with all of you.
