Hi all,

I have been posting here before, but now I am starting my journey on Nalmefene again. I had my first compliant pill again last night, slept quite bad but have made it through the night. Alcohol has already cost me enough; l am currently (from taking a combination of alcohol and diazepam for about quite some months) feeling very depressed, anxiety all around and home from work for the last two weeks.

I am intending on going back asap, but right now I want my head clear again. And taking my pill every day will help with that! My energy levels are very low right now, but I guess this is because I am coming of the diazepam now (am starting tonight only on 2,5 mg's for the next three nights and then 0) and I start feeling again.

Wish me luck and I need your support though this!

Good to see you here, and yes I have read that benzos also spoil the extinction process of TSM, and I'd hazard a guess that is because it affects your decision making and awareness which I believe is central to ultimate TSM success.

Hi girlamsterdam, welcome and glad to have you with all of us starting out on TSM. There are quite a few of us and some not too far ahead of you, I for one am on my Week 5. There is a lot of support here so any questions just ask. As many have said to make sure you track your daily drinking, dosage etc as you can see in my signature below. The site I use to track my DRINKS is : http://rethinkingdrinking.niaaa.nih.gov ... ulator.asp
If you want to track by UNITS like some do you can use:
http://www.knowyourlimits.info/know%E2%80%A6-your-units. I hope that helps! :D
Okay so just follow the Golden Rule and you will be successful along with the rest of us!

I'm glad to see you back, girlamsterdam. I wondered how you were doing. Do you want to tell us how things have been, or would you rather just move on?

Good luck girlamsterdam! Things will get better and weaning off the other drugs to face the alcohol head-on with TSM sounds like a good start, but it sounds you might be in for a rough beginning. Stay strong, I just finished my first week so we're in this support boat/roller coaster together.......hang in there!

Hi Again Girlamsterdam, welcome back to sanity. I look forward to your continued posts and can relate to your New try. Hopefully, we will ultimately find ourselves cured even if it takes more than one or two stabs at the beast. Picking oneself up off the ground is far better than staying there. I know it's not as easy as the book implies and am here to offer my support. Hugs, Keek

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome back! I have been taking Nalmefene for three consecutive days now, but my sleep is terrible. I took also my last diazepam 2,5 mg last night, so I hope the side effect from that being not sleeping or in short bits (without getting the real 'tired' feeling, and having little electric shocks or twitches in my limbs and waking up bc of that) will go away soon and also the fog and depressional feelings I have will subside by time.

Not being at work and sitting at home is no fun at all, especially not when being alone. As if I would be trusting my sleep again and have energy... I do still see my friends though, I don't want to get out of touch with my social life.
