*shrug* I'm not saying it won't work. I'm just saying it's not the usual thing, so it's less well-charted territory.

Well, last night we shared a bottle of wine, I did talk to him about the need to drink more to hopefully set the process in motion quicker. It may be helpful if I discuss it with my doctor and get him to have a chat with my husband also.

My wife was highly skeptical that this would ever work. We went to an addictions counselor who agreed this made sense.

Shared what I was doing , her concerns, etc etc.

My wife patiently waited (and waited !) and believed in it. Alcohol has now become a complete non-issue (as it should be). I still share my progress, (but it's not a big deal anymore)

BTW: You'll likely be the one educating your Doctor, my counselor had never even heard of this

It is now day 3 and I have been trying to moderate drinking. I feel a buzz from drink, sometimes a little jaded;
but no inclination to feel indifferent to alcohol.
In fact a big sense of relief the moment I have it.

maxi1, just remember that TSM does its thing on the subconscious level, whether you "feel" it working or not. So, theoretically, you can have the same subjective experience of alcohol and then one day, weeks (or months) later, forget you're supposed to drink or not be too interested. The range of normal subjective experiences of successful TSMers is quite large. Keep on keeping on and you'll hopefully be surprised how, month to month, things you worried about or thought impossible look totally different.

Very well said Barry! Maxi make sure you read and then re-read Barry's post. It is right on the mark. Peace.

Thank you Barry, massive help in otherwise very unsure territory, I will keep reminding myself of it.

Thanks for your post maxi1, it takes courage to do what you are doing. I am a 20 year vet of AA .. not 20 years sober mind you, LOL, far from it. I am very new to TSM, but I'm not sure I could have even began if my SO was monitoring my drinks. Totally me though because I am already a hider. Nobody on the planet but me knows how much I actually drink. Not a fun place to be. But knowledge and faith in the science of the protocol is pretty important so far in my opinion, and taking the pill an hour before you drink is the key. Coming from the rooms it sounds so friggin strange to say, but I know myself, and if I did not drink as I normally would right off the bat after committing to TSM I would always have lingering and nagging thoughts that I did not "do it right" therefore giving myself an excuse to get off Nal, get the old glory back, and try again some other time.

Not hiding drinking and staying accountable goes a long way towards controlling use. Keeping a daily log is what many here do. Most spouses aren't fans of the drinking other half, so including them in the process helps.
